Hey everyone. Heading to Nelson for the holidays, was curious how things are shaping up out there. Specifically the crusader area. Any info would be great, pictures even better!

While you gain some elevation to Crusader, the road in right now won't be the greatest. Best is to look at WhiteWater's snow depth, which is more closely associated with Giveout but you can get an idea what the lake area has around it. Towards Castlegar is a bit more, not great, but enough.

It was looking good for awhile, almost on par with last years depths but all of the SE corner of BC is going to see very limited precip over the next few weeks. Hopefully it turns around after Xmas.

As Arn said Meadow is where most people are heading but it doesn't take long to pound that flat unless you drop down the valley towards the Goat. Gets thin and steep fast though.

Also heading up Boxing Day for a week to see family. Have a buddy who is renting a sled and is beginner rider. Looking for somewhere I can take him with easy access. Also might want to do a day with some more experienced riders myself. I have AST 1, avalanche gear etc.. and have been mountain riding for 8 years or so. Pm me if ok with a tag along.

We still need a lot more snow, bunch of people have been wrecking a arms and more. Lots of hazards just under the snow. Hopefully we get the snow that is forecasted for this week.

If you are staying or near Nelson the easiest access is giveout creek. There is an abundance of FSR access and cut blocks as well as decent terrain to really have a good time. Cabin is located right off on of the roads.

Next would be SixMile which has a longer road ride in through some nice areas to Crusader cabin. Once there it gets steeper quick back to meteor mines. You can come in from Lemon Creek as well but I don’t know what the road access is like right now.

Rover creek has a decently groomed trail to Snowater cabin. The Cat ski operator grooms it. Not visibly a large area but you can climb up and over the saddle to an endless area.

There are dozens of locals areas which don’t see as much access as well.

Further towards Castlegar is the Norns range.

Either check out Nelson SnoGoers website or stop in at either Mainjet motorsports or Playmor power for some more info on riding areas.

the snow up crusader is still pretty minimal. Lots of stuff to hit. I hear giveout is in the same boat. Hopefully the next few storms help out.

Could see 80 CM's by the end of Tuesday, that will help a bunch. Lots of snowbikes up Giveout, they can get around pretty easily in marginal snow. Need some big dumps!

Conditions all around the Kootenay are like every where else. Lots of new snow on top of ****ty layers. One reported nearer Castlegar was over 100cm crown.

I sluffed off some pretty nasty sections one ridge over from those photos with 80+cm crowns. But otherwise the low exposure areas are perfect right now.

I agree with Florider! Not worth the drive, better stick to Revy... no room for 4 place trailers anyway. Probably will end up selling mine!

Yesterday was a treat, more testing of the Laser Phantom Teth-Air and great conditions. You get a quick look at it on the throttle block when I start the sled. The video is about 3.5 minutes and unedited and a bit shaky so watch at your own risk. Some nice tight trees and a bit of a slide I triggered near the end. This was all the warning I needed to stay clear of anything steep for the rest of the day.
