Need to update some old helmets I have.

What features/brands are a must have for the snow and cold? Are electric visors worth it? I want a really great helmet.

Your time is appreciated.

helmets are such a personal thing. what works for one person may not work for the next. The important thing is to find one that fits you well and is comfortable. Make sure that they have DOT approval on them

Do you wear glasses? What sort of riding? If you are planning on more active(off trail, mountain) riding, I would suggest a moto cross style helmet and goggles. If you are a sit-down trail rider, I would say a closed face perhaps modular especially if you wear glasses. They are warmer and quieter than a moto cross style helmet.

I have always worn a motorcross helmet with goggles and quick straps. I wear glasses sometimes, contacts sometimes. My glasses don't fog up with goggles. I just bought a modular and wore it for the first time yesterday. It was excellent. I didn't have to take it off when we made a pop-stop, just opened it up, and my head and helmet always stayed warm. They are quite a bit warmer than a motorcross helmet, but quite a bit heavier too. It's all personal preferance, but make sure you try on every helmet in the store before you buy.

My bud and I got the Gmax Modular Electric this year and we both love them. I even took out the breath deflecter as I don't need it. We have rode in -20 to +5 and no sweat or fogging of the visor. At +5 we unplugged and opened all the vents and were quite happy with the flow through ventilation. It is great when you stop as it flips up and you don't have to take it off. I would highly recommend this helmet for all conditions. It's very light compared to some of the other helmets.

In my opinion the HJC clx5 arena is a very good multi purpose helmet. the front a removable face mask, its worm, VERY GOOD quality, and inixpensive!
