So I have to choose a new snowmobile for work, gas plant operation.

I am out of the loop with these type of units as mountain riding is my style.

It has to be capable in the deep and capable of carrying a small amount of tools. Plus has to be able to keep up on the fun days with my Boosted M8:d

Has to be tough, for riding cutlines etc.

Has to be a new off the show room floor model.

Any suggestions?

Call Terry at T&T in Bonnyville he'll set you up. He has some really good deals.

one word.

yamaha.;)

Put down the crack pipe kiddo........

Ski Doo released the Tundra Extreme this year, and honestly it looks like a fun little sled, 600 ETEC, 154 x 2.25 track, around 500lbs, on the REV - XU platform. Although economically I think the Tundra LT with the standard 600 cc motor for $3500 less is a better option, the Extreme looks like a nice sled.

Although I don't like the looks of them particularily, I think the Bearcat is one of the better rated ones out there as well, but they would likely be far heavier than the Ski Doo and I would only really consider them in the Z1 displacement on the 4 stroke because I think in the 600-700 lb utility sled range, the 570cc motor would be underpowered.

I saw the tundra extreme on the doo site, looked interesting for sure, little pricey though, the thing I am concerned about is the weight. When a guy gets these rigs stuck by him self am I going to have to call in the troops?

I would love to just get another M8 but that is a bit of a hard sell, when it is a "work snowmobile".

Too bad that Tundra makes 4 times as much power as any Phazer ever made and also has more HP than your SX 700....

Oh and I owned a Phazer, I had to walk away from it 3 times before I put a Rotax motor in it. Never walked a step after that.....

Keep dreamin' junior.

ive never ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever walked from any yamaha! maybe you put crappy oil in it! lol

had nuth'n but lucky with yamaha!

no sled compares to a phazer! from any brand!

awesome fuel mileage , comfortable , light and reliable as anything! all in one package! if i won a skidont , i would trade it! i would not even test it for fear of it blowing up!

i dont care if it has more power than my yamaha , my yamaha does catwalks , shreds powder and goes 120mph!

what good is power if all you do is work on it?

i dont know why you walked.
my dad had an 86 yamaha phazer , the fan belt flew off and it siezed. it was so hot that it sounded like someone was fry'n eggs in there! so he waited and poured some castrol down the cylanders and fired it up drove it home , and put a new belt on it the next day and got another year out of that engine before a rebuld was in order!..........as far as i'm concerned..........bullet proof!

i know ive told it before but...............

Yeah that must have been the issue.... Oil is the only thing that makes motors fail. What was I thinking!!!?????

If you won a new ski doo I got $50 that says within 30 mins you would be converted from your antique Yamaha. Your brand-biased viewpoint has blinded you from even trying any other brand and you are missing all the good qualities of the other sleds out there. I'm not saying you can't still like Yamaha, but Yamaha is not the answer to everything. My uncle rode Yammy mod sleds for years, then he went to Polaris, now he rides a Ski Doo Summit XP and says he will never go back. He has over 30 yrs of riding in the mountains, at least 15 of them on a Yamaha. Do you want his # so you can call him and get an experienced opinion?

The only way your Yamaha would do lift the skis in the air is if you put too many beaver pelts in the tow-behind skimmer.

Give your head a shake.

I could not agree more to the above statement, I recently jumped from the xp platform back to a M8 even though I am not a Cat guy and I could not be happier. There is tons of good rides out there but when you stay blind loyal to one brand you are just being closed minded.

i'll take you up on that bet! if i ever win a skidoo , i will immediatley trade it on my dream sled , a nytro! (i dont care what you say about my dream! so go ahead!)

and i have done lots of catwalks on my sx700! infact on the first test ride , i accidently did one and scared the CRAP out of myself!

its not that skidoo or any of the others arent likeable for me , its just that i have had so much luck and fun with yamaha that theirs no reason to change or even try the others!!!

antique? it was a 2001 (the sxr)

and have you ever tried canadian tire oil? i have changed the oil on our neighbors polaris 4-stroke and it had metal shavings from the pistons and cylanders! wow! so i told him to use castrol ..............no shavings!!!! ya might as well put sand in your engine!

no thanks on the #!!! like i said no reason to change!:d

I think what the others are saying yamaha is that despite your luck with your machine riding only one machine since your start hardly gives you the knowledge to give educated. Info on a brand choice......it would be like me telling everyone they should by a poo because I own one and like it with out having ever "really" ridden another brand

On the other hand, I've only had sex with women, and I am SURE that they are the sex for me.

That was way better in my head, but I'm hitting submit anyways.

Sex = sledding

Types of ladies = brand of sleds

If you like them with 2 pointy things out front, you are good to go.

Your sexual orientation will only be questioned if you have a SnoHawk in the garage. :D (just kidding.....)

You gotta ride all sorts of "ladies" before you know which one is right for you.

You can't just ride a big one and say they're the best unless you've tried some others.

I'm going to stay with the brand I currently enjoy for the next lifetime, but thanks for the thoughts... :d
