Only a 1000 miles, but chipped reeds. Do I replace with OEM reeds or is there a better OEM replacement? Kinda want the parts by next weekend.

Also, anyone have a youtube link on how to replace? It isn't an electric start, so will be a lot easier and pretty sure I can get it all apart, it's just a first glance looks pretty tight around the throttle bodies. Worried about getting to all the bolts to get it off.

This video should show you how to get the throttle bodies out of the way. Then the reed boots will unbolt after that.

Normally I would say stock reeds as I was told they last longer than other replacements. But 1000 miles outa ones isn't much. If you have money get boyesen rage cages.

If replacing petals make sure you put them on correctly. There's an inside and outside.

I think these are the OEM replacement. Seem a whole bunch cheaper than Cat? Cat part shows you need 4@$53 = $210. Boyesen are 2@$35US ($44 CAD) = $88. I'm I missing something?

Boyesen Rage Cages if you can swing it, or just Boyesen reed petals. Great product.

if you can swing it get the entire rage cage assembly. Well worth the coin. Never had any issues with them and installed lots over the years.

That sucks. Hope this isn't a common issue cause I have a 15 and a 16.
Common in my experience. My buddy had a 14' and had to replace the reeds at 1400 miles. Almost left him stranded as one petal broke off and felt like it was only running on 1 cylinder.

Yep very common, both my 14’s had the same issue with stock reeds, one had about 1200 miles when they failed, the other had 1400 miles

Reeds on my 16 were replaced at under 100 miles under warranty. Weren’t sealing fully. Dealer replaced with Boyesden. Very happy. I did have to slightly trim intake nose cone so hood would fit properly. The boyesden housing flange is thocker than factory by about 1/8th inch or more.
