Ok, now go read the article in the edmonton journal where the guy tried to stop a theif from getting his truck and ended up getting stabbed and seriously beaten.

Then we should be carrying one of these.

Time to start dealing with these guys on our own.......This is what im doing if anyone come poking around my stuff, We work way to hard for it to just up and leave........MOFO's

Most thieves are not carrying guns. I would rather take my chances if we were allowed to carry guns. I think the smaller crimes would go down. Most of these clowns would not try to steal your truck or sled if they had it in their mind some guy might come out in a second and start blasting!!!!

Bin there, done that. It does feel good after.
Someone stole my uncles car, but did not know headers were still uncapped. Easy to follow in Edmonton. When we caught up with them, they got a SEVERE beating. When the cops got there all I said was they kept trying to get away and I had to keep shoving them down on the ground so they did not run away:rolleyes: Cop smiled and said RIGHT ANSWER!!
By the looks of them in court I think the cops might have had a little fun with them as well after they were in jail

about 2 weeks ago just up the street from me 4 guys that I know wer hanging out and someone jumped in one of there trucks, found the key under the mat and took off. WRONG TRUCK TO STEAL....the 4 of them jumped in the one guys souped up dodge and caught him before he got to the end of the street!! one of them jumped into the back of the stolen truck when they caught up with him and tried to kick out the back window because the truck was allready moving again! so after this kid is runnig around town doin 110 the guy in the back waves his cell phone in the window to the kid implying that the cops wer called! he looks back and starts pleading for him not to call the cops and BANG he T bones a suv! trust me when I say he got what was comming to him. The cops asked what happened to the guys face and they told him that he must of hit his head off the steering wheel when he hit the suv. If we didn't watch our stuff around here we wouldn't have much left!!

Nobody registers in BC because they didn't enforce the rules much. Same with dirt bikes there, nobody has a plate out in the woods.

I heard they are going to be enforcing a lot more.

It's info like this that has people mis-informed. All the guys I ride with and 99% of the members of our club have their sleds registered in BC. You cannot insure your sled in BC without having it registered. Insurance is not mandatory. Registration is. If you get stopped at a roadblock and they ask for registration on the sleds and you can't provide it, they can confiscate your sled until you get it registered. Bill of sale is not enough, those are easily forged. Registration with a dealership doesn't mean Jack on a used sled! That could be 4 owners ago that someone had that sled in that shop for work and not all dealerships check sled registration when they work on it. Doesn't mean it's not stolen now. As of right now, Quads and Dirt bikes do not require registration in BC. However the government is proposing mandatory registration of these vehicles likely beginning this year.
Useful and informative info that may clear this topic up a bit

The price of admission buddy boy.
So, not if, when, you are in a crash with another sled and that guy's insurance company goes to collect, who pays?

Yep...then the funs starts....thats where the guilty party gets sued...loses everything and possibly a caveat to pay the rest of their life. But then if they have nothing...you get nothing....the price of insurance and regeistration is a small amount to pay to keep legal and to protect yourself and others in case of an unfortunate accident....just my opinion but way safer and less expensive than not having it and yes....people on here are right in saying they are starting to check....the fine costs more than the premium or an insurance fine....why not pay and not be bothered by the law or over burden an already over taxed law enforment system that could be trying to find your buddies sled instead of giving you a cheap azz ticket for no plates! just my 2 cents.

Not to knock Slave as I love it here.....but the chit that goes on in this town is unreal....always at night and always cheap azz chit like slashing tires or smashing windows to get a couple of CD's or whatever. The theft is getting real bad and it seems the RC's can't seem to catch'em and nothing happens if and when they do....not trying to promote vigilantism..but good one you guys....that punk got what he deserved and we will end up see'in more of it if our system does not change. Yep....big azz mean dog....turn him loose and let'em eat until he's content!

You are right, there is not 1 single registered sled in the province of B.C. Oh, except mine and Sno Ghost's. How do you come up with your info, just asking?

A bit of a generalization. I guess "nobody" means myself, most of the guys I ride with, and tons (not all) of people I see out riding. I have my sled insured in Alberta but not registered anywhere. In 6 years of riding (and a few years living) in Golden, I haven't experienced any enforcement regarding sled registration, not to say it doesn't happen. This is including getting stopped at the transportation safety check-stop they had at the lights in front of Tim's in Golden, just before Christmas. I did get a fine for my sled hanging too far out the back of my truck without a safety flag, and the cop went through all my paperwork, etc, mentioned nothing about registration.
I always figured that there's no way to get a registration fine for riding an unregistered sled sitting in the back of your truck, as you aren't technically "riding" an unregistered sled.

All that said, I think registration enforcement should be stepped up, and should be mandatory. It would really hamper the market for stolen sleds if you had to have them legal. Just keep the sticker system, not metal license plates.

......... and it's brutal to hear about more people losing sleds to these pricks. A few of these theives need to be made example of, to at least put a bit more doubt in their mind before they go snooping.

I agree with you that there needs to be more done to theives. I had a sled stolen back in 2002, the police were not much help with anything. I tracked the sled down to a guys garage about 30 minutes away from where I live and when I found the sled I thought I would let the authorities take care of it so I called them, got the sled back and the guy got 6 months probation. Thats it! I wish I would have just kicked the S#@T out of him and took the sled rather than phone the cops. Only thing with that is I probably would have gotten an assault charge and screwed myself in the end. I was just happy the get the sled back.

full coverage Insurance was $350 for my 2003 800 Pol. thats cheap .this is most expensive sled ever had in my life, so no chances taking, but didnt register it yet, didnt know if I was going to keep it.
But if we got to Terra Canna Ranch next month,I will.

little off topic but in the 80s in Whitecourt some women were getting raped and the guy not found, after a few months of this he was caught trying to rape another lady in the Old hotel, we tied em up, phone cops, they said it might be hour or so till they got there,so we brought him to top floor in elevator and rolled him down the 3 flights, did this for about 5 times, up and down.Cops asked what happened to him, Oh fell down the stairs ? well he did. he was never seen again.

and then in the 90s ,a good freind of mine and Ex RCMP from Whitecourt who got his 2 Quads stolen and found the guys himself, he had a helicopter and tied the guys up and blindfolded them and lifted off a few feet and threatened to throw them off unless they told him where his Quads where. They did. But the Ex Cop was charged and Got 1 yr in jail.so vigilante in not good either.

I remeber that... but you know what....The judge that charged those guys was just as bad as the theives....be different if they'fd have hurt'em but that was not the case....and those punks....I bet they are cured for life. More of that needs to go on. Its frickin judges like that....that give out soft ass penalties that have society where it is today...There in lies the problem....and what a frickin waste of tax payers money! Now Im puffin mad again....hang'em ....and be done with it then go onto the next one....wouldn't take too long and the losers might figure out that workin for a livin might be a better proposition than stealin our stuff!
