Need an automotive mechanic to help me figure out what weapon I need to check my codes - thx in advance for any help - took it to the car wash and washed under the hood and now the check engine light is on

I think I figured it out - online is saying it's a obd1 and I gotta short out a few connectors and count the flashes on the test light

What year is that thing. No OBD2 port under the dash? If so any old OBD2 reader can tell you what code it triggered and clear the codes. Then search the vehicle and OBD code online to get the most likely causes.

Or yes unplug the battery for a bit and clear it that way. If it comes back get a code reader.

I cooked the mass air flow sensor by pressure washing it - I just popped the hood and started blasting everything lol - the people that had it before had the wrong oil filter on it and ran it with a bad valve cover gasket - oil was everywhere

I figured out from my online search which wires to jumper and use a test light to connect the other 2 to get codes
