If you have to get it to half throttle to get it to engage and it seems to be sticking and slow to disengage first thing I would look at is the 3 rollers on the primary clutch spider and the surfaces of your weights. if the rollers are wore out they will bind and be sticky to engage and disengage. With the engine off you should be able to roll them with your finger and view the weights for flat spots.

Take out one bolt and buy the 3 with the same thread only like 1" longer, pop a long one in 1 of the holes in each corner and use it to hold tension on the spring while you remove the other bolts. Then to pop the outer cover off unload the spring with the 3 remaining longer bolts. Just make sure to mark the clutch cover and sheaves with a marker so they match on reassembly.
Doing this you can verify your rollers and pins on the spider and the weights aren't pooched. Oh , little blue Loctite on the bolts for re-assembly.
