Hi folks! Anyone on the site that works for Telus? Most of our County of Vulcan has been without telephone landlines for 8 days now. We assume it is flood related but we are 45 minutes from High River, 90 minutes from Calgary and 30 minutes from Cluny where the flood hit the Siksika Nation. Talked to Telus customer assistance and got a girl from New Dheli who said she had heard about our typhoon  but told us a repair man would be out in the next 2 weeks. Why can't they hire someone from Alberta to answer the phone and give us a reason why we have lost our phones out here? With what other peeps have gone through with flooding its not the end of the world. Just looking for some info is all. :dunno:

Any dealings with telus has been flippen brutally miserable here in the Kootenays..... as for getting anything done via-telephone with telus is enough to make you cry... or break your phone into several small bits... unbelievable. There was an issue with underground line to my home telus box, I was told 14-16 days repair will be out....... ended up figuring it out myself.. loose wires in the box from installer..... a teenager from music school in Vancouver that had gotten hired by telus for the summer.... nice fella but jeepers....

We live next to a small town. No debit or cc machines working as phones down. Have to pay cash. Can't get cash cause bank is closed because computers and phones are down. Drive 40 miles to cash machine to get cash?

Snopro,

My dad is a TELUS employee and works directly with network and infrastructure here in Western Canada. I know that he's been on conference calls non stop in regards to outages and such since the flooding started. I can try to dig into it for you if you like.

Thanks Tyler. Don't spend alot of time on it as we have phones now again. My beef is no information. You can only talk to someone across the pond. When we have power outages Fortis will give you the reason why your power is out, approx time it will be on and the person is from Alberta and is aware of the local conditions. Telus is definately lacking as a service provider. Thanks for your help!

See that's not 100% true.

If the people sound like they are struggling to speak english and have thick accents they are here in Canada, either downtown Edmonton or Quebec. The ones that speak semi decent english are the ones in the offshore call centers.

Off shore call centers allow for "language & dialect training" where as they can be taught certain words, accents and drawls. Dell is the worst one for this they actually train their agents to speak with Texan Drawls so you get an East Indian rep with a played on Texan accent.

I will pass on your concerns for sure.

The lady I talked to said she was from New Dehli? Said she heard about our typhoon on the news? There are a few stragglers from out of town. Lol.

more and more are being taught to drum up small talk when waiting for computers, routers, modems to boot up. thats when i quiz them on the small talk they are trying to start, anything from weather to sports local current events etc. they are getting fairly in depth, sorta like spies in a sense.

telus lost quite a few lines across the province last month, they were still dealing with the ft mac flood and then the south floods hit

Ken, last month we cancelled our home line after 20 plus years in Armstrong. All we got was solicitors and those who know us called on our cell phones. Must admit kind of nice not getting those pesky calls at supper! Not sure how your cell phone coverage is in your area but something to think about.
