Alberta won't go broke, won't lose industries, and certainly won't get any worse than it already is.

Toby Sanger of the Progressive Economics Forum conducted a study looking at the fiscal record of all federal and provincial governments in Canada for the past three decades. His results show that NDP governments have the best fiscal record of all political parties that have formed federal or provincial government in Canada. His analysis shows it's not just the number of years of balance that's releveant, it's also the size of the deficit or surpluses. Most important is the size of deficits as a share of GDP.

"Could it be that as the demand for more social services increases (as the economy suffers through a serious case of Dutch Disease) Albertans are beginning to think perhaps a little Socialism may not be a bad thing? After all, over the last half century, a little Socialism for the rich worked quite well. It made some Albertans very wealthy.Is the increased demand at food banks, along with increased incidence of child neglect, skyrocketing layoffs resulting from the oil-price shock, greatly reduced corporate support for the down and out an indication Conservative economic strategies are in trouble?

If you have children in school, children needing learning assistance, want your kids in class sizes less than the current 30+, have aging parents who will need a place to live, If you, your spouse, your parents, your children will ever need medical care, if you want your teen aged kids to earn a decent living wage.........I just can't see how a PC or WR vote will better the lives of the people I would hope you care for the most.

In the past 25 years this province has hit an economic downturn twice. PC government went into slashing mode (Ralph for one) and we are STILL reeling from that. Cannot lay the blame on the NDP!

I think the NDP is a very real alternative to the Conservatives, you have to be blind to not see that. I have no desire to see the burden of low oil prices placed on the citizens while the big corporations continue to turn a profit. I'm not sure who i'll vote for, but I do know it won't be the Prentice team.
