Lots of drama in the first Chase race today at Chicago. Here was the top 10 finishers: 78-22-24-21-2-11-5-18-20-88. Johnson led the most laps but got a late race speeding penalty that cost him the race.

Updated Chase standings after todays race: 78-2-18-11-22-24-20-48-19-41-1-14. These 4 drivers would be out if the first round was over: 3-4-42-34

Truex and Johnson failed post race inspection!!! But because of the severity this will not affect Truex moving on to the second round. Not sure if point penalties will be issued this week? It was a measurement problem as cars were to low. So much for Nascar getting tough on cheating in the Chase like they said they would.

New penalties clarification for the Chase. Now you will need to have 2 missing lug nuts total on the car to receive a penalty. Failing the laser inspection station could result in an automatic disqualification and a loss of 35 points now. This is a first for Nascar as they have always let cars that fail post race to keep there winnings and trophy but dock them points. This is a big step for them but long over due IMO.
