Had a couple questions about this, so here it is. Very simple. Took a holesaw and ground the teeth down about 1/2 and sharpened them to knife point. Run the holesaw in reverse and you get a clean cut, no track threads sticking out and the rubber gets cauterized and seals them off. The holesaw needs to be hot in order to make the clean cuts. After the first couple holes it is usually hot enough, or I will pre-heat it with a torch. Make a template of the pattern you want and you are good to go. Sorry about the fuzzy pics, I'm not very good at using our fancy camera (too many buttons and settings).

Nice job on the holes........ You should take the propane torch to all the track edges and windows to clean up the threads hanging out..... Looks much better when that is done too....... ;)

first of all sorry for highjacking ure thread awesome job u did there !!!

i got a question can i even do on mine the same style you did ?
im just wondering cause of the wheels i got in the inside
the 2 maller ones in the front in the middle and than the 2 wheel conversion in the back
arent those wheels running than in those wholes i would drill in the track ?

i also seen guys drilling wholes in the very outside edge of the track
what is everyone thinking about that ?

Thanks for the tip! I will be doing that next, wasn't sure how I was going to clean them up. Once I get the other holes drilled in the paddles in between (going to do 2 holes in between the rows with 3 holes). I've got a 156" I've got to do now as well!! LOL, never seems to end does it?

Thanks again!!

No worries man, talk to shwnmcgr on here or some of the other more experienced guys (Summitric, Sledbunny, Snotrocket, threadkiller, etc), he drilled his in the middle too and I think that he still has his internal idlers on. I don't run anything other than two wheels on the outside at the back and two smaller outside ones on the front of the rails (see profile pic of my sled) but none on the inside. I think that the wheels just roll over the holes if you drill them out, so no big deal, I have seen guys with 4 holes inside and one on the edge on each side (6 total) all their idlers and all seems to be good. Not sure about the track holes on the very outside, maybe more weight loss or more snow evacuation from the track, less rotating mass? and less friction? I did mine just to get rid of some of the snow in the middle of my skid.

Hope that helps. :D
