thats too bad Ron,all that money put in to the machine, and tunnel breaks.
I bought a 92 Indy 500 RMK from trapper freind 6 yrs ago, it had 12,000 miles on it and speedo hadnt worked few yrs,he beat it all to crap, engine was never apart,I beat it up for 4 more years, had 18,000 when I sold it,motors still together.best machine I ever had ,and I have had LOTs since 1969.Was going to get a new Yami 4 stroker, But read too many tales of broken bulkheads and tunnels, so bought a 03 Vertical Escape from freind I grew up with, the son of my Trapper freind just rebuilt the motor in this,so hopefully will get a few thousand out of it.

Good luck with the tunnel work, there must be a stronger Aftermarket tunnel out there for you High Horsepower Nuts!

Ya Know Tyler...that's not a bad idea...lol...
Maybe Friday night we can slip over and steal a bunch of parts...NO...Better yet, add a bunch of nuts and bolts so when he puts it back together he can't figure out why he had tons of left over's...

Is this supposed to be read:

"Want me to come drink beer and watch you work tonight?"

This thread does nothing for the reputation of turbo'd yamaha's.

Install/What Turbo Kit/ This sled has alot of untold history.

Hopefully CHAD takes care of you RON, there is no way that tunnel should be the way it is! Put up come pics of the tunnel, I just put one on and will have to put stiffeners on it I guess.

Ok, the tunnel is a CR, Chad has gave me new sides .095 metal to replace the original ones. I just decided to change the rest as it will look terrible with new sides on a redrilled tunnel. Some of the rivets spun when drilling marking the remainder of the tunnel. Im not going with the CR gas rack and will decide when the time comes. I will go with the new Mountain Mod seat which is for the rear MC Xpress turbo with a straight exhaust dump. And when taking apart the exhaust system we noticed the welds have broke and the center weld had ripped right out of the pipe leaving a hole about 1/4 wide and 2" long, before the turbo. So I'll get that welded up or replace it completly. Everything in the front is good. I will replace the chain though, $220 fix when they can get the proper one in at the dealer. And reclear coat my hood and panels. Also install a vent kit, and a under the hood temp gauge. I need a new track as mine started coming apart as well, it has delaminated in many area's, I think its a blemmed track from the get go. Randy Swenson was going to give me some help with my clutching as I seem to eat belts last year. Then I got my new intercooler to install and I should be all good. The tunnel was cracking on the foot wells between the foot supports.

the bent tunnels on the other manufacturers doesn't give a good name for them !!! :d
A bent tunnel doesn't do anything against the turbo Yammy reputation !!!
just saying;)

RN

I think he is comparing some more of the other issues rather than the tunnel itself (cracked headers etc). If you build a dragster, you can't expect it to run forever, and let's all be honest with ourselves, what sled does not require some maintenance throughout the year? All in all, I would say that the 4 strokes ahve a pretty solid reputation. Hard to argue with changing the oil after 5,000 kms as pretty much the only motor maintenance....

Just because you are adding a turbo doesnt mean that your gonna get further up the hills without getting bigger grapefruits there buddy!! We will see who is doing more sitting at the bottom buddy!! LOL Let the trash talking begin!! It is getting closer I can smell the snow.

I seem to remember some sitting around in a shady tree well smelling the snow and inspecting the bottom side of a kitty kat..........:d

Some photos from last night as summitric, rknight111 and myself were putting the Nytro back together again.

1. Setting the track into place
2. Making sure it is ready to go
3. Piping still hanging out everywhere
