After reading and replying to a topic on this site titled "what's the first sled you rode or owned" I had a wonderful memory... and had to add a new topic.

MY Mom understood what "Rider Forward" meant. My mom and Dad used to do a lot of sledding in the late 60's and early 70's and up until the mid 80's. They would ride with a group of aprx. 24 sledders, husbands and wives on all sorts of sleds from "Rupps to Cats" and all makes in between. They would make the trip to Radium BC about 1-2 times per year, from Edmonton AB. Forester Creek and the Bugaboo's were the areas of choice.

Anyways, My Mom rode a brandnew '72 Ski-doo Nordic and had a heck of a time seeing over the windshield, she was about 110 lbs and 5' 4" (short)... so she ripped apart the vinyl seat and added about 4 inches of foam, recovered the seat so she could sit higher and see over the handle bars and windshield... she says it made her riding experience more enjoyable. Remember this is back in 1972 - 1973!!!. She was probbably one of the first, if not the first, to start the "Rider Forward" era!

However, since then the Nordic was sent to pasture, Dad bought a '74 Panther 440, '77 Panther 5000, '81 El'Tiger 6000, etc... the family since then has been a "CAT" family. :D

The Nordic was pretty cool though! And is still a great memmory :)

it`s 36 years to late but what if your Mom had gotten a patent on that seat, someone could be owing your mom big money:sadbanana:

Ckeck out this lid, the funny thing is the date on the photo.

Its more of a drinking helmut now, and less of a riding helmut.

FYI, this isn't me, its my good friend Sheldon (until he sees this)

WAY TOO FUNNY,......Didn't realize this until just now.

We got smart and made him switch to plastic cups, thats what friends are for.

Bahahahahaha, That Is Funny...... Everyone Needs A Drinkin Hat For Those Down And Dirty Drinkin Nites... Never Know What You Might Fall Into..... Lol:d

LOL... :D Looks like the dude is telling some sort of incredible story about how his Doo embarassed the Cat & Polaris guys out on the hill! Funny how all the Ski-Doo fantasy stories come out when the Doo boys are half Cut!! :):):)

Got to love the old skid lids though! :specool:

One more pic from the same weekend, and if you look closley, the Skidoo is ahead of the polaris!!!!

The motoski blew up about 3 hrs later, and they actually towed it 15 miles back to the lodge with the old Skidoo, it was a site to behold.

FYI, the six of us were on late model Polaris and Yamaha's, and these two guys were locals we ran into, they were pretty good guys.

I'm not seeing the link, I was unaware that if U raise u'r seat height u move the rider forward, so if anyone out there was thinking of selling there zx chassis to get into a rider forward sled like a rev, scotty just save u a bunch of money, just get a taller seat
