Thanks for the precise calculation but I am wondering if the 11% penalty isn't taken into account at the charging station much like fuel purchases are temperature adjusted to 15 degrees C?

Well sort of. They are charging you per minute so they factor that in. Any charger that is not Tesla and charging per minute is a rip off. Here is a comparison....

So here you can see I paid $1.99 for 10kWh at the battery.

This is a fast dc charger...

So $15.26 for 36.8kWh BUT what went into the battery was 89% of that which is 32.8kWh. So this is a price of about $0.50/kWh. Not a great deal.

Man that's cheap, was paying close to $1 not long ago. I wonder if it will last? Don't really need a bulk tank, but a 1000 gallon tank would pay for itself in a few fills at this kind of savings as it's only $2,500 and not even $1,000 for pump etc. And by the prices you guys are posting, I need to have a chat with Petro Canada about my pricing or i'm going elsewhere. My current pricing on marked is $.71+GST.

Had the Full Self driving computer installed on the 13th. The car now sees garbage bins, cones, turning arrows (the ones painted on the ground between the lane lines), stop signs, and traffic lights. This doesn't change anything with how it operates at this time but at some point I think it will be able to stop at red lights and stop signs on its own.

How does the autopilot work on our highways? Is it worth having?

It works great most of the time. I don't use it in sketchy conditions nor will it let you. Basic autopilot will work anywhere there are lane lines. Navigation on autopilot works only in certain locations. Calgary to Edmonton and Calgary to Lake louise is the bulk of it. Navigate on autopilot is pretty cool because it passes slower cars automatically as well as merges/exits freeways. I find it very similar to the convenience factor of GPS auto steer in farm equipment.

Have you ever had any close calls when it was engaged? I’m worried that it works just good enough that you won’t be paying attention when you should be. I’m guilty of this on ag equipment. The outfit we use for seeding you are pretty much along for the ride once everything is set.

Not really but sometimes it messes up. It needs to feel torque on the steering wheel to stay engaged. If you don’t do this it flashes, beeps, and then eventually stops the vehicle with hazard lights on.

It’s really neat to get software updates that regularly improve the functionality of autopilot. It is much better now than when I originally purchased the car 16 months ago.

Also looks like the auto stop feature is in early access program for USA cars.

Have they been charging you for any of these updates? Or plans for a subscription yet?
