Been running a muff pot for cooking some smokies on my xm 174. Mbrp can. Good contact on the plate. The thing never gets warm tho! I throw on 4 deer smokies yesterday at the truck when we left. Put on 85 km in decent snow and had the hammer down for a ton of the day fooling around and stopped on the way back out of the area to have lunch and the smokies were barely luke warm. Anyone else having this issue?
What's the consensus on the thing cooker can does it work better then these things?
On a Happy note the muff pot on the tractors at the farm works awesome!

Where on the can is it? Try putting it on the inlet pipe not the muffler body. Can stuff aluminum foil between the pipe and the muffpot base to held heat transfer. Also a lot of snow comes in the the top vent on the exhaust side and will cool the pot a lot. I put pet screen under it to help a lot.

I don't understand the picture you provided. Some have strapped it to the side of the can others have put it on top of the can inlet pipe (just like Bnorth has stated). The guys who have strapped it to the side use the plastic oven bags to contain the juice/liquids.

IMHO, nothing beats theThing.

just get "The Thing". Its my 15 Mutt and cooks like crazy ! Frozen Burrito- 4-5 mins. Bacon wrapped scaloops on top and raw italian sausage on bottom 10-13 mins. DO NOT PUT IN PRIOR TO RIDE, you will end up with burnt offerings. Does not throw codes. Heck mine was installed at 6hrs and Im only at 1200 ft altitude ! Exhaust flow is matched to factory specs. Nice rumble and the BRAP when valves are open, sweet and not loud. Google away or just Call The Sled Shed in Revelstoke @ 1 250 814 0018 and yak with Al or Kathy and get cookin ! This is the proven deal.Ask anyone that has one. Your wasting your time toying with add on/bolt onto garbage. Good Christmas gift for you.:d

Move your cooker to the inlet pipe just above the can and you’ll be cooking anything you put in there and really quickly. The can doesn’t get hot enough to do the job. Had the same set up and problem to begin with.

I have had a muff pot for years and never owned a thing can. Mount your pot on the can or the inlet away from the insulation and you are good to go. Cook what you want.

This set up works very well even with the extreme vent up top! Warm up left overs in 45 minutes to steaming hot, cook from frozen in 90 minutes. Saves from having burnt offerings like the thing cooker!

That"s nice...warm up leftovers in 45 mins. What if the rider decides he/she is hungry and would like to eat in 10 mins ? Drive around in circles for 35 mins ? The thing in 5-7 for leftover's. You put your food on before the break. And yes it will do raw meats just stop and turn the pot around and Doo the other side. Do not pack too tight so lunchie will get stirred. What do you do if you stop for a break before 35 mins, reset the timer ? Be the envy of your friend's even if you ride a cat,LOL.
