my dad has a vinson 500 and is looking at getting rid of it. i am going to see is i can take it off of his hands. what do you think about it being turned into a mud machine?? rad relocate snorkels 27s the whole deal. i am only worried about it being a 500 not having that much power how it will handle the 27s.

Single cylinder machine will be no good for mud. Especially a 500. You need a twin to keep water out of the exhaust pipe or else you will have to be on the throttle the whole time and then chit get broken. You would have a noticeable power drop with decent 27" mid tires.

Huh? I've parked my rhino in a river at idle with the pipe under water for several minutes, many times. Same with my wife's kodiak. Never had any problems with water getting in the exhaust. Did guys not take their quads in the mud at all before the twins came along?

The vinson is a great machine but just not a mud machine. If you want something reliable to put a lot of miles on it'll be perfect. The solid rear axle(at least my gf's 06 Vinson is a solid axle) doesnt allow for lots of clearance. And anything more than 27" mud lites is gonna bog you down.

My wifes quad was a 07 vinson.

There were places it could go with 26 act tires my brute couldn't. I'm sure it had to do with the solid rear. Helps but hinders also.

Bout the only thing it needed was a front diffy lock.

Real good quad otherwise.

They did, but why spend the money on a single cylinder that will never have the power, or response needed in a mud machine.

You must have your idle set way high.
