Mtntk turbo pro rebuild

Hey all, been a long time since I posted, but here goes.

I have a 2015 pro with a mtntk turbo on it, and on my last trip to valemount it was getting harder to start, and usually had to blip the throttle before it would fire up, and have to babysit it until its warm enough to take off. It has trouble going into reverse alot of the time, and generally idles too low. Once I take it for a good burn it will idle normal and usually go into reverse good. It never shows any check engine lights or bogs or anything, so I think that rules out the tps. When I got home I checked compression and it was reading 115 mag side, and 105 PTO side, so it looks like it's time for a rebuilt before it coughs its guts up.

My question is, what is the best route to go in rebuilding it, should I go with the mtntk fix kit, or just buy drop in pistons and run it, assuming there's no damage to the mono block. Tia.

Pros run great with boost. No need to waste your money on a fix kit. I would still replace your tps. All the symptoms lead to that anyway. It may not be fully failed, but I would say it's on its way out.

While you're at it check clearances on the flywheel pickups, if they go out of spec it makes it hard for the machine to sense flywheel position when trying to switch to reverse, check reeds and all that stuff while you're at it including crank runout.

Also have a look at the boots between the throttle bodies and crankcase, I had a bolt back out on mine and cause similar problems at idle, Although it didn't change the compression on mine.

But I also agree that a fix kit isn't needed, I have run a mtntek fix kit, but I currently just run stock replacement wiseco forged pistons. Make sure you get new wrist pin bearings when putting new pistons in. You can do stock replacement pistons for about 2/3 of a fix kit cost, not to mention less chance of a base gasket leaking because of the cylinder shim.

I was having those same issues on a 14 Pro. No Turbo though. (I'm going the Drop in kit route, you obviously don't need to with the turbo), anyway
i just rebuilt my reeds last night, there was enough chipping on the pedals that could have cause the idle issues. I also stumbled across this partially melted plug during disassembly. It had not shorted yet but it definitely had a poor connection and would have fried some stuff eventually. This plug was directly from the stater trigger coils. I haven't completed assembly yet, but im thinking both issues i found could have contributed to the issues. I will have the TPS checked after rebuild.

How many kms on the engine? Also do you have the oil line update kit installed? Pretty important update. Chrisco can line you up with any aftermarket parts you need

Yah I would think that would have caused you some issues down the road, if it wasn't already. I'll be having a look at all electrical connections, and using dialectric grease on everything I can get at. Thanx for the response!

It's at just under 2000kms, and I haven't done it yet. Seems like as good of a time as any, since it's going to be tore apart anyway. Thanx!

Yep for sure. It is easier to do the oil line update when the engine is sitting on a bench.

Make sure you do the oil line update we have them in stock if you need also check the reeds. You can use the MTNTK fix kit or just some good stock replacement pistons both will work fine, the MTNTK kit is better in the long run. Also check the tune version and see if it has an updated tune.

Thanx for chiming in! I've been meaning to call to see if you have the oil line update in stock. I'm going to be in Edmonton next weekend so I'll swing by the shop and pick one up. I can't hook the bully dog up to the sled because there was a couple wires broke off the harness, I called mtntk and sent it to them, but never heard anything back. I called and they said they would look for it, but never heard back or got anything back. At the same time my muffler was cracked and I sent it off to be welded, then forgot all about the harness until recently. So I might pick one of those up too if you have it. I'm fairly certain I don't have the new tune either, but won't know for sure until I get a harness.
