Moving to Iqaluit for three years with very little snowmobiling experience.
Loking for tips on which type of snowmobiles are best on the arctic tundra. Not a single tree on Baffin Island...just snow and rocks.
Will be utilizing the sled for transportation around town, but also will be interested in some exploration around the rugid tundra (with a passenger from time to time).
Which ones are the toughest and operate best in hard cold weather conditions. I'm told I need a 4 stroke 'touring'. Seat and hand warmers would be nice. Not too worried about cost, within reason. Best brands? Best options?
Open to all thoughts and suggestions!
Thanks

If you don't mind asking, what are you doing in Iqaluit?

I think a Bearcat or Skandic would suit the bill for a sled.

a little piece of paradise
My bro lived in cape dorset for a few years. He had a yamaha enticer i think, 440. I visited him there in the spring and i saw lots of bravos 250, Most of the hunters had bigger sleds though. Bigger, comfy touring sleds are the way to go. A gps is a must and make sure you ride with experience people cause navigating on the sea ice is challenging for a southerner and the usual sea ice patterns are changing. You will have fun. If you get a chance go to Auyuittuq national park. We skiied through there but i believe you could do a cool sled traverse through there. The inuqs do it all the time.
