Mountain Riding With Tracks on 455CC

Just a couple of shots for those not familiar with where tracks can go.

Wish we had snow here! Any upgrade to the power after u put tracks on er?

Power train & engine = totally stk. The snow in the photo is about half of last year which was about 8 ft at this time.

How do you find trax for balance as far as sidehilling and such? Much of an adjustment for riding

The tracks actually side hill better than tires but feels like it is top heavy and they need to have proper tension as if they are too loose, you could loose a track.

Hows flotation on the snow and how do they do if you sink in deep, will they chew or is it time to start winching.

Typically they don't sink any deeper than this photo shows, but if you get the tracks spinning and don't let up, you;re shovelling. That being said, with a little caution, I've never had to shovel or winch.

Cool hows steering is it harder or same as size up mud tires

And then there's the steering.:d

On hard pack or loose powder, turns ok. In wet or heavy snow, its like ride a bowflex exercise machine. Ya get use to it though.

i've been looking at doing tracks for awhile but i dont get enough snow here to make it plausable, i just chew a lot harder with my mud lites

Yup, if you don't have snow, whats the point.Tires will do the job.

Tracks are cool. But just remember that if you're out in the back country and you break down, a quad with tracks can't be towed out. It's gotta be choppered out. We had a guy come out with us two years ago and that's just what happened too him. The quad was also too heavy for the chopper to lift. They had to strip the quad and the doors along with everything that could be removed from the helicopter. Wasn't a fun day, but it made for some cool pictures.
