you go up and over the notch johni, straight over :d

not sure where jared is talking, but i always though middle koots pass was at castle mountain not the pipeline.

ya thats what he's talking about but there is a way from fernie to get to middle koot pass I have heard this a few times but i assumed it would be a spring adventure with more daylight and stable snow?? for the first time last year we ventured way left up and over of the notch and it seemed to keep going pretty kool area but a bit sketchy drop n in as its blind and steep.

we will go there for sure that weekend if we go. always sooo deep in there Im talkingt like 5kms left of the notch if that makes sense not just below.

AWWWW the secret middle koot pass trail lol you go down the lodgepole road to the flathead fsr then across the river to the bottom of the middle kootenay pass trail it's a short ride from fernie to castle and it is a ride we do every year from december till may the snow is good usually but avlanche alley can be sketchy it ends up being 45 minute ride from mclatchie fsr to the top of middle koot pass. anyone interested pm me we will get it crackin up there and I do have another little secret spot in that area that has an old airstrip wich would be awesome for some drag races!!!! and some amazing tree riding and an mazing back trail into harvey pass that is simply nuts in the middle of winter lots of tree banging to be done

oh man it is such an easy link from fernie to castle it has 1 hard turn to find for the short cut with a couple little creek crossings. you can also head a bit north and hit up the north koot pass and the back entrance to a place called sore crotch and packhorse peak it is awesome back in there. but the harvey pass trail to flathead road is pretty intense as well.

but yeah johni we should meet up us guys are staying at the best western we are gonna be there friday saturday and sunday riding so let me know and we will meet up possibly go to castle on friday or sunday from fernie

Just going to interrupt for a post guys and then you can get back to the riding stuff!

The Park Place is full and here is a partial list of in-town hotels (there are hotels on the ski hill also) that would be available:

The Best Western: indoor/outdoor hot tubs, indoor pool, Boston Pizza and Fernie Mountain Spirits liquor store on site. 250-423-5500.
Stanford Hotels and Resorts: indoor pool, hot tub, slides, great dining. 250-423-5000.
Super 8 Fernie: hot tub, Smitty's, Dairy Queen, and Husky on site. 250-423-6788.
Red Tree Lodge: hot tub, sauna, pool (?). 250-423-4622.
Powder Mountain Lodge: indoor hot tub. 250-423-4492.
Snow Valley Motel: hot tub. 250-423-4421.
Blackstone Lodge: self contained B&B, hot tub, ride from your door. 250-531-0080.

A web-site to look for accommodation ( B&B's, private homes, Chalets, etc.) is: Tourism Fernie http://www.tourismfernie.com/accommodations

I'm pumped. I made my girlfriend re-schedule a potential Cuba trip for that weekend so I could make it! With any luck I'll be on a turbo by then!

Not logging in LodgePole nor will the road be plowed to the compressor station (the information I have at this time). So it will be starting at the Elko corner south of Morrissey and a 52 km trek one way. Not an exact track but close enough.
