Talked to Myles (owner of RMY Yamaha Pincher Creek) yesterday and he told me he had been out by pipeline last weekend with his turbo yamaha and found it to be better than he expected. I took his comment as to say it is worth going. 3 of us are going to check out the Castle area - carbondale area tomorrow. If you check out the Inn On The Border blog you will find that they are reporting Corbin to be good also.

I talked to a guy at Ghostrider in Fernie and he said basically it sucks. He said trails are groomed but tree's ect are seriously lacking! He did say that guys are saying that up high it is maybe better but he hasn't been out due to lack of. I would imagine that the trails are very hard and scratchers are a must.

X2....there is one pocket of relatively fresh powder and that is the other side of Howell/29 Mile/Harvey in the Ram creek/Cabin Pass area. For about a 5 mile stretch there is 12" of fresh on a good base. The December weak layer is showing up with cracks and whomphs even in the trees.

The locals are not climbing; just the tourists or visitors that haven't got it yet....it is still dangerous in the basins.

I don't know what shape the Morrissey/Coal Creek trail is like after the weekend. There were a lot of riders on the weekend.

Got back from the pipeline last night. Trails into the rolling hills are very rough (wasn't kidding about a kidney belt). It was warm enough that the snow was soft and there was some untracked spots in the trees up high. Was worth the drive but by the looks of the forecast next weekend will be a lot better.
