Yeah, I still like my warranty too, so I'm iffy on the programmer at least for another 50,000 km, but I'm getting my oppinions now. Might just say screw the Warranty all togeather. undecided.
Well, if you have a good dealer you wont loose your warranty with a programmer if you arent abusing it, and they can tell. Aftermarket tune, yes warranty voided immediately unless you have two ecm's.
I've got a Hypertech Programmer in my 2003 5.3l. It was in the truck when I got it so i can't tell the power gain. but it has been good and never screwed anything up. 265,000 kms and still running strong. got Flowmaster dual exhaust and noticed a little more power but not insanly noticable. cheers
Picked up an 2003 Ext SB 4WD 5.3 with 4:10 gears with 117,000 km had magnaflow exhaust and the rest is stock. I added the Superchips running it on the Performance mode, vs the towing or extreme performance modes.
It has more power and better mileage....ran it for 3 weeks without the programer was getting 15.7 km/ 100 L it dropped to 11 km / 100 L in the same conditions....
My buddies that run efi live in their duramaxes tune it back to stock before it goes to the dealer and the dealer's computer hasn't picked up on it yet.
best bang for the buck.... switch over to royal purple oil. After much thinking, reading, and talking i did the change. Changed front and rear diffs as well motor oil. You can actually feel some power increas, cant really put a number on it, my milage when up by 3mpg, and the transition from V4 to V8 is so smooth now. Will also run longer into the v4 mode (steeper grades) as well will switch into v8 quicker. My ride is a 1500 with the 6.0 in it.
