I went to grease my 2014 xm and found a hole with no nipple on the upper shaft. The shaft does pivot between the idler wheels where the springs are and should have lube. My old m8 had a grease nipple there. Just wondering if they missed it or what, lord knows they wouldn't catch it on the pdi

when i picked up my xm i found a grease nipple broken flush with the pipe, thanks to easy outs it wasn't a big deal but goes to show how closely the dealers look at them before shipping them out the door.

That normal they are all like that. No grease required the shaft inside does not rotate and is aluminum The hole is just to let moisture out

But the arm moves around the alum shaft(which the bolts thread into). The old revs had zerks everywhere. BRP's just cheapn' out

No, it rotates on the end cap bushings. That aluminum shaft is a very loose fit in there. It's pointless to fill that whole cavity with grease just for the two end caps. Should just pull those out and grease them maybe but there isn't much if a point he rotation is so small

I believe any part that moves should be lubricated unless the bushing was made of an oil light self lubricating material. Thats why I put zerks in the spindle for the ski bushings. Those don't move much but sure wear out fast..don't you think?

I don't have the answer to your question but I have pulled out hundreds of skidoo skids. NEVER have those end cap bushings been worn and needed replacement. Ever. But for whatever reason you are correct on the ski bushings! They go FAST! I used to put zerks but now I just pull them out every season clean and relubricate and all is good. Zerks work good there also.
