Brushless are the way to go, that’s all I have.
I thought Milwaukee discontinued their brush motors tho. Maybe not.

Maybe that's why the brushless seem to be on sale lately.

Both Milwaukee and dewalt have entry level and pro versions of the basic 5-6 piece kits.

the Fuel and XRP are typically the premium versions.

the entry level kits usually come with the smallest batteries also.

Most of the kits at Home Depot on sale are the entry level stuff.

7 or 8 years old, Fuel 1/2”. Can’t remember for sure. Hydraulic oil got behind the grip and ate it away to the point I had to peel it off. Fantastic tools that just plain work.

I'm a guy who believes you get what you pay for (in most instances).

The combo packs of many tool manufacturers are suspect to individual tool quality IMHO. This M18 pack is in the neighbourhood of $600. An M18 drill pack combo can be in the $300 range. So the question to the guys that are using Milwaukee tools for a living/business (not the occasional hobby type person and that is nothing personal to anybody), are the tools in the big combo pack the same quality as the individual tools or the smaller combo packs with all things being equal??

Depends - are you buying from an industrial supplier or from a box store / Amazon? My understanding is that there are differences even when you think you're comparing apples to apples (model) as the product run for industrial use will have better components than the retail version ....... some comparative tear does would be good ...maybe a topic for ProjectFarm on YouTube.

That is 100% bullch!t started by the industrial suppliers. They know full well they cannot sell at a lower price than what Home Depot offers, so they spew rumours like this to try and keep your business. The only tools they can compete on are the specialized pieces that Home Depot doesn’t carry. Do some digging on every sales flier, promotion and special deal you see at the supplier. HD will have a sale or deal at the exact same time for the same price or better.

I was using tools with cords yesterday, you gotta do what you gotta do some times!

I think I’m actually up to 23 Milwaukee batteries now

Black Friday deals are starting to come up. I will see what KMS in Kamloops has in future and compare with HD. I have found out that KMS will boost the warranty up another year, not that I have ever had to use warranty on power tools. They usually just wear out with brushes and bearings.

All my 18v stuff is Ridgid and it's been good. Started getting into the milwaukee m12 stuff for a few tools I wanted. Just jumped into the m18 though as the wife wanted a cordless leaf blower. I warned her the implications $$$ of having a couple m18 batteries in the garage lol but she didn't seem concerned.

Buy "same items" from both and compare ... sometimes they're the same but often there's subtle differences between HD / Cdn Tire products and industrial gear ...

If the model number is the same, the model is the same. Just saying.

If somebody’s research is limited to ‘give me the red one’, or ‘give me the yellow one’ naturally the wholesaler isn’t going to carry the garbage brushed stocking stuffer model available at big box retailers with the 1 Ah battery.

Yea you just need to compare model numbers. I recently had my first ever dewalt tool die on me, probably 7-8 years old and i'm pretty hard on them using them in the mud, dropping them, etc and this one I used a ton for mixing and smelt it burning a bunch of times. No complaints at all they are great. IMO I don't like the massive batteries, too heavy find the 4-5 amp is the best value.

$199 at Home Depot right now. Seriously, Home Depot owns Milwaukee. You won’t find a better price than there but they don’t have all the extravagant super sale advertising the others use.
