How many miles are you guys getting out of a tank of fuel on your xm. I barely get fifty miles and my bars are gone and my low fuel light is on. Could it be the sensor and is it hooked to the computer to shut engine off?

Depends on what kind of terrain/altitude/snow depth/throttle/speed/RPM....
Tank holds 40 Liters. Next time you u fill up, take note of how many liters of fuel it takes to fill back up. My light will come on with about 12-15 liters of fuel remaining. I have burnt a whole tank in under 50 miles, however I have also squeezed nearly 100 miles out of one tank. It all depends of what kind of riding you are doing...

I was going to ask if his buddies were siphoning off fuel when he wasn't looking. The etec has been awesome so far for mileage for anyone I sled with and we put the miles on for damn sure.

80 km in deep pow. have gotten 220km from a tank on cement trail riding.. I generally run out every ride and burn my 10 ltr gerry too.. lol last weekend burnt the whole tank by one thirty bc time put in the 10 ltr gerry and ran out at km 10 on the trail.. back at the truck and on my way home at 3:00bc. This weekend im strapping a 20 ltr and a ten on my tunnel lol.. Crazy!

We found first hand that when you do run them out of fuel you can go alot of kms if you baby it to get back. They will barely sip the fuel at low rpms.

I've gotten 150 km on a tank, and that was turboed. But I can usually last a day on my tank (avg 90 kms ish). I'm heavily on and off my throttle though so.... I probably sound like a wastegateosaurus in the distance haha

Yes thats generally true, but heres what i found out: If you have a hard time gettin where your goin, its gonna be harder gettin back out.. Get stuck a few times and that little bit of fuel your tryin to conserve is gone and then your screwed.. And yes when I had my 2011 on boost i got way better milage

Dont forget to pull down on the rear bumper once your sled is full, my 14 gurgles and will drink another 4-5 litres, every bit helps

Last weekend in Sicamous on my stock 14 XM I got 66.4 miles and she died. I got the some mileage the second day with a few miles. I was to the bar all day as the snow was waste deep, that also included the 30 Kms of trail.

Getting about 180-200km a tank. Don't hold the throttle down- don't need to on this sled. Plenty of power on the low end. Most of my sledding is boon docking and expedition travel. Just need to know how to move large distances with min fuel- u never know far you want to go so best to conserve on those bluebird days for that late evening limp out....

I was on my stock xm 163. I had my turbo out and buddy of mine tried it and wouldn't give it back. So I told him he could ride it all weekend but write me a cheque. Well he wrote me the cheque so that was the end of that sled. He had a brand new 14 X red and black first trip out so I took that on trade as I needed a sled to ride. I forgot how much fun a stock sled is to ride.

Was getting around 110km from the truck and back with light on last 20km, when out in Silver Mines. Breaking trail most of the day and mostly on/off throttle(probably more ON haha)... Still on break in mode.

Drop to 1 on any trail riding. These new xms are geared so low that they are reving quite high at low speeds.
If you have a shockwave back it off to steepen angle so it up steepens up for trail.
My ptec would get over 160 Kms on tank with 60 of those trail Kms .

My 2012 etec runs 105 to 110 Kms on trail at 6800 rpm so very easy also on fuel.

Also if you want to put the most in the tank. after you burp it, tip it to the side about 45 degrees and you will get about another 5L in there for the max fuel capacity.
