I actually tried to reason with this particularly plump mouse in my garage. Fortunately He was trapped in my garbage pail, at that point I tried explaining to him (I think it was a "he") that chewing cabinets was not a good plan. I had also articulated that Spencer (our cat) was not as reasonable an individual as myself and that he may meet his demise should he attemp entry into our residence... Things should probably work out considering the "stern look" I gave him while stating my position....

we do a version of the 5 gallon pail trap, run a wire across the middle with an empty tin can with a hole centered in each end through the wire, put some peanut butter on the tin can, run a 1x3 up to the lip near the wire. 5 or 6 inches of water in the bottom. Even works in the winter, just takes longer for the mice to die because they dont drown.

Use light oil.
They don't stink when rotting.
Diesel works to but place will smell like diesel.
No smell to oil.
4" in the pail.

And we all wish you luck with yours FF

AH I FREAKIN HATE MICE!

Never had a mouse in my house.... until last year. It was fall time, Kevy was working on the basement, but happened to leave the door open all day. Somehow, the little bastages got into our pile of 2x4s. One day, several months later, I was cleaning house and out of the corner of my eye, saw my darling purebred kitten playing with something that did not look like a purchased toy. ... It was not a purchased toy. It was a dead baby mouse, or mole (I am not sure, as checking out rodents is not a past time of mine) and he was throwing it around the living room. Of course, I screamed like the chicken I am, and made Kevy clean it up....

We went and bought some "go in and can't come out" traps, and didn't catch a thing.

A few weeks later, Kevy and I were playing Scrabble in the living room. Bo came stalking in, and I knew something was up. All the sudden, he spits out this little baby mouse-mole and starts attacking it. Kevy and I were able to herd Bo and the mouse into the basement, where a solid half hour of torture ensued. After a short time, I couldn't take the squeeks, and demanded that Kev kill the poor thing. Which he did with a metal dust pan.

Unfortunately for me, that is not where my story ends. Sunday night a couple weeks ago, laying in bed. Just about to sleep when I hear "Squeek SQUEEEEEEEK". Bo was working on killing another....Had to wake Kevin to take care of the mouse-mole.

I wish you luck with your mouse problem!

Ever had a chipmunk in your house? My wife's aunt went to use the can and when she opened the toilet lid a saturated chipmunk shot out and ricochet around the bathroom. She called her brother in to kill it and he didn't believe her but opened the bathroom door and it was climbing the shower curtain. He caught it in a fish net and released it outside. They figured it got in the sewer vent. Ya and we don't let our aunt forget about it either.

Buddy got squirrels in his garage. His favourite past time was sitting in the garage with his gun shootin' squirrels and drinkin' beer. I always left after three beers cuz he was getting to be a lousy shot.

My camp neighbors camper got invaded with squirrels. The little critters eat it beyond use. Had to use a backhoe loader to take it away

Best way to get rid of squirrels go to peavy mart and get a round mole trap bait it with peanuts caught about 15 last summer have to tie it to a tree or stake cats and skucks like to carry them away

do you have to bait them or they are attracted to the gear oil smell?

Glue traps work great. And have you ever seen a farm cat step on one by mistake? You would never be able to catch that cat the way they bolt.
