If you look through the Dodge fourm most do it with it running but not all. I find it funny how some get sooo fired up about it, and the guys who did it running all say it was no problem. H&S says do it running. I think I might try the pressure up from the back end trick as I like the idea of pressure blowing out the chips IMO.

It isn't a problem unless the bit snaps or something else bad happens, like you place your hand wrong and meet the fan, etc. So that is why a lot of people will say they have done it no problem. Most gauge/tuner instructions will say truck off also. Plus with it running, you have shaving flying around and not a good thing if they end up in the eye (ya it can happen with safety glasses on).

I appreaciate the help and knowledge, wasnt directing anything at you, just the Dodge fourms in general. I just get a kick out some of those guys get so pissed if you try to skin the cat a different way..not their way. learning new ways is a good thing!

I've got every magnet on a stick that the Snap-on truck sells as I tend to drop allot of chit!

P.S what r you seeing most guys run for pipe size? I had a 5"TBE ordered but changed it to 4" TBE, just cause I dont think I would gain anything but more noise. I don’t plan on more than 600HP. And the pipe was cheap so I figured if I want to try a 5" later it would be no biggie. My dyna single and y pipe for my sled was more than the 5"....?

I agree that there is more than one way to do things. Sometimes you have to use many "tricks" to remove an old rusted bolt for instance. The more you can learn about a subject the better you can prepare for it. Also the more you learn before you tackle a project the less you are likely to mess things up from something you may not have thought of.

Snap on magnet is my friend also!

You should be fine with a 4 inch exhaust system for your torque and hp goals. If not, there are lots of offerings for you to upgrade later. Based on my fuel economy records there was very little difference between the 4 inch and 5 inch systems that I have run on my 6.7.

You are going to love your truck even more after these mods! :d

your stock pipe size is 4"........ Why not just do a cat delete kit with 4" cat back exhaust........ Much cheaper and same size pipe.

Thanks, thats why these fourms are great. They can save you allot of time and $.
The biggest reason I changed my mind on the 5 to the 4 is I dont think its worth any gains for the hp I'm going to run, more money "$100" Plus I have read where some say their 5" down pipe ratteled against the fire wall. Could be just a install or that certain pipe, I know but I start my truck at 5 am and live in a older hood so more noise is not a very popular move for me. I'm getting old I geuss I more about function vs bling!

I thought of that but I got my Stainless TBE 4" for $400ish with muffler so I thought why fight with my existing pipe. Plus I thought I read some where that the stock Dodge down pipe is very restrictive, could be wroung but the new pipe was cheap IMO, just thought it would be easier.:beer:

Doesn't really change your overall hp. The 5" can/will rub on the tranny cross member And the spare tire. I also run a 35" 'mT spare tire and it just clears.

Thanks, I like the look and the sound of the 5" but I figured it was more of a hassel than what its worth for me...right now! I just did not want to have to dic around as I dont have much spare time to install this stuff with my little 19m old running around. Sounds like i made the right call ! but like I said 5"
is not hard to up grade to next time, I would think its not hard to sell a kit. every one I looked at on kijiji was gone in no time!

I had a 5" on my '06 and it resonated too much when pulling the big trailers under loads..... Went back to a 4" turbo back mbrp, with dual mufflers and much better

Cool, I went single with a muffler. I should have looked at the duals alittle closer. We'll see how it goes, I ordered the Flo Pro stuff!

i went single exhaust, just added another muffler in, to keep the droaning noise to a minimum....... It's not a dual exhaust

5.9 seams alittle more ...not loader but seams to have more snap to the exhaust tone over the 6.7. dont ya think or is it just me!

I've never heard a 6.7 with deletes and 4" so we'll see. I like the idea of going to a dual if needed. That will keep my wife happy!

You'll have to try it....... The 6.7's we've done can be just as loud as the 5.9's....... We have also put and extra mbrp muffler on a couple of the 6.7's as well, just to keep the noise down a little:)

Well just got the call from Dodge, my Mega cab gets another upgrade.....a new tranny!

I'm at 78000km and thought I'll run it in to see if they find anything before my warrenty ends @ 80000km and I bolt on my above mentioned non-dodge parts. I had a small drip up by the engine drain plug of all places. They pulled the tranny pan and full of filings?

thats not unusual :)

lots of peeps go back to 4" exhaust arround here just for the reason of too much noise when pulling just like ric sayed

You don't need a magnet, you don't need to have OHAS standing by, you don't need to put an ad in the paper because the sky is falling,..

Take your P/S fender well out and all is kosher,..

The exhaust manifold is cast,.. when you drill it comes out close to a little flaky/particle like,.. when you tap it is will be powderish. When I drilled my own,.. make sure you have a sharp drill bit, put a LITTLE white grease and drill SLOW,..<-------SLOOOOOOOWWWWWW, so when you break through everything stays on the outside,.. put clean grease on to finish the break through drill.

I have been a diesel mechanic since '93, a minuscule amount of shavings going through the turbo at low speed,.. believe me there are more things to worry about.

I put a NADP tranny at 40000 km.

From stock to NADP heavy hauler. I dont know what it rated for but I've burnt up 2 of them now in 27000km

I guess 78000 km and covered on warranty I should be happy!! I should have asked if the new tranny has a new warranty? I be wild if I bought one and only got 30000 k
