For the North part of BC i can say that i dont agree with alberta trucks running in BC without having pay as much as local. Truck inspections are twice as long, insurance is less money, and coming out of a city fuel is more affordable. Makes it hard for the owner operator in BC to make a go of it when 5-8 percent off the top is just to stay in the game.
As far as welders they can all go F#$#K there hat with minimal overhead a 20K months. That rate is just stupid.
As far as mechanics, pretty close wages across, but most alt companies dont pay the kid to go to school,!! Whats up with that? write a contract, sendh im to school if he fails he owes his wages back. Simple plan.
The company i apprenticed under payed full wages all the way through so i could focus on school, i gave them 10 years of loyal service for it. Things are different now.... My rant

hahahaha thought I seen that orange cat go by I know one guy from your group stopped to help and he was laughing pretty hard! i wish i would have seen him crash it looked like it would have been a doozy! in alberta they pay the kids to go to school for mechanics! we have payed for every apprentice at our stores to go for there trainning! but I hear ya on some of the other wages and yeah that additional 5-8% is definately a killer for bc residents. I know when i was doing truck accessories there it was costing me 12% at the border for taxes then 12% tax to the customer theres a 24% tax mark up wich you dont see at all!

We built the mountains, lakes and rivers to keep you out. If you want to come here you have to pay to use them. If anyone wanted to visit new foundalberta there would be tax there to. There is a reason even the dino's left.

lucky? I fail to see why

But like you said all in fun. I have lived in Calgary/High River waaaaayyy back and the mountains always pull me back. But then again I have friends in Lethbridge that say they could not live here as they would feel claustrophobic due to the mountains. To each his own I guess.

All in good fun.

Some ppl do take it to seriously though and just have a hate on for BC. I always find it funny because those are usually the same people who spend $$$$ coming here to enjoy what we have. I always tell them "Hey if you don't like it go salmon fishing, sledding, camping, whatever..... at home"

I don't hate albertans, just azzholes.

Turns out the population size of Calgary lends itself to more azzholes than the small towns around here, so it seems like there's more.

That or only azzholes live in Calgary... :D:D

Option #2....

Well not only azzholes, but they do outnumber the good peeps down there....

I know a few cool Calgarians... but not many...

No wonderer I hated that city...... I did not find it a "welcoming" city when I lived there for 3 years but then again that was a few years ago.

Very white collar and snobby....

When I first came west I had no ties so I had a choice of where to settle down...

Very quickly chose edmonton, I like the blue collar red neck feel and attitude
