Hey, I own a 2010 M8 153 and really enjoy it. I was thinking about a turbo for it but have been a bit leery due to reliabiltiy. I am not the type to dick around setting things, or wrenching on it. I am pull and go and if it needs work it goes to the dealer. I was told yamaha would be the way to go. I like to play in the trees, boondock, etc, and not sure if a yamaha would work as well. I am not biased, I just love to ride. Any imput would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

I definitely prefer the nytro for boondocking, never owned one myself but my dads spare sled is an 09 yamaha nytro mtx and i borrowed it a couple times this year and definitely preferred it in the trees compared to the M8 which i borrowed a couple times this year from him as well. Neither were turboed but i found the nytro to be easily as manuverable as my phazer mtx and the M8 was a little tougher to boondock than both of them. Nytro is just a tank when its stuck, really sucks to dig that out.:d

I have a m8 turbo and have ridden it all season with no reliability issues. Had some fueling problems but got that worked out. I have ridden both, and honestly the m8 handles way better than the nytro. Guys can say what they want but the nytro takes its toll at then end of the day on your body. Yes the four strokes handle the boost better, but with the fuel injection on the new machines, you will see more people jumping ship to go with the lighter, more agile two strokes. Also why are you looking at a turbo, arent you from saskitchybum?

just make sure you purchase one of these and you will be all good,,,
p.s. dont turbo the thing,,, I speak from experience and I want to save you thousands $$ I am officially spreading the word after another ride with a dead 2 stroke turbo,,

this will get your turbo 2 stroke where ever you want it

I would advise you to do some major clutching to your stock m8 sled, gear it down, get your rear shock re-valved. Now you have a reliable sled, and it's light cuz you don't have to carry 50 extra lbs. of tools because it's not boosted. That's your pull and go sled and it won't leave you on the hill. I only turboed mine cuz I like the sound of it,...well maybe I like the power a bit. Lot's of up-keep. Just my opinion.

if you don't like tuning and dicking around then don't turbo your machine spend the money you would turboing the machine on something reliable like a new rear suspension or tunnel some lightweight parts with some clutching and a simple performance package and you will be very happy mod sleds are real fun until they break down on you!!!!

nice,, I am not knocking the guys who do it, I just want the ones that are unsure to be sure about what they are getting in to.. p.s. I may be jealous I could never get mine quite right lol...

but yes when they are tuned and running man they pull strong,, it does make a guy smile

Out of curosity what all has been done to the 09 Nytro. We have an 08 and it does not work at all in the trees.

I appreciate all the replys, and respect all the good advice. I realized that i will need to tune and work at the sled, so in saying this, what would you recomend for a turbo. I seen a cutler installed and it looked pro.

Do you want to spend $4/L or $1/L (Race gas or pump gas)?

Cutler is a nice settup, Boondockers good, twisted is good. I tune mine with a pure lodgic box and it is very simple to tune. The only problems I've had with mine are reeds, and two pistons, which was my fault for not watching my air-fuel. Pistons should be changed every season anyways. If your going to buy a kit try to buy it from some place that stands behind their product and will help tune it. Figure on running av gas (1.40 L ) cuz it isn't worth the risk you get with pump gas.

My nytro has been phenomenal. 25+ days in the mountains this year. blew one belt after 22 days. runs at 17-18lbs. every day. only thing it needs is a shockwave helix to stay off the limiter when the snow sets up. has been more reliable than my stock XP.

On an M series go Cutler! Know some guys running the Cutler and it runs phenominaly. If you are running around 5-8 LBS on a two stroke I wouldn't worry too much. Everyone I know is just pull and go after getting their turbo set up. If you want to get greedy then expensive fuel and problems await you but if you want a solid 200 HP at elevation then you will be happy.
