How long have you had the V-force 3 reeds in there? If your reed petals are chipped a little bit it will be noticeble in your bottom to mid range!

He also took out the D+D primary spring (Black ) 190-330 and put in a SLP (Green Pink) 160-340 he says he gets alot better back shifting.

backshifting on the primary.....??

The SLP spring would have lowered his engagement and raised his finish rate but it should not have affected his backshifting since its the secondary and helix angle and spring pressure that really impact backshifting (I say this with some tongue in cheek because all the parts play a role in the system but primarily this is the role of the secondary). Too much angle and not enough spring pressure it will shift out fast but be slow to backshift, not enough and too much spring pressure it won't shift out fast but it will backshift fast. Hitting the right combination of helix and spring is tough. On my one sled I am running a almond spring with the 47 degree but I also have a whole other clutch with the almond and 49 degree. I knew one guy that could not regain RPM on his big bore Cat (1150) and it was all due to a simple change of a 3 degree helix he made, it wouldn't shift out all the way so the motor would not rev out.

Your sled should only backshift when your RPM's drop, allowing the belt to move lower in the primary and subsequently higher in the secondary. Your RPM's will drop because the CVT gear ratio you are in is allowing the track too much mechanical advantage (resistance).

avossler's problem really sounds like it is fuel related (as I think he found out). Seems like a lot of these issues are lately, the boxes just seem to be really rich until they are dialed. Once you get a feel for a sled it is really easy to tell what is clutching and what is motor. Hope some of that helped? :)

Well took the sled out today with the new D&D barker can and installed heavier weights because I was over reeving. Sled ran like crap still, had one of my buddies from FSJ check it out and my numbers where way out to lunch. Buddy set my boondocker numbers up and wow, this 901 BB halls ass. My numbers where way to lean on top end but my A/F monitor was saying I was still rich. We had to fatten the numbers up a lot and wow what a difference.:d
