M7 top end rebuild

I'm wondering if I need to do a rebuild on my 2006 M7 efi. Its got 3400 miles on it, still runs great. My question is if my motor still has good compression should i do a rebuild, like <135psi. What is the difference in between cylinder psi that is tolerable? The sled is bone stock. What are your thoughts on spacers under the jugs? I've heard that it can help with giving the m7 a little more power.

I would be interested in hearing how the spacers under the jugs would increase horsepower. I would think that would reduce the compression ratio and cause reduced horsepower.

If it's got 3400 miles on it it's time to do the top end. Don't just do it in the chassis though. Pull it apart and do the crank seals too. They've got just as many miles on them. A spacer under the jugs won't increase horsepower unless you're adding a turbo at the same time. The only possible reason I can think of to be lowering compression is to try to run a low boost turbo without race fuel. My son did that with his TM1000....ran double base gaskets to try to get away from detonation. On a stock engine it'll just hurt you power wise.

I never thought about doing the crank seals since they're aren't leaking now, but they could be soon I guess... I wasnt really wanting to pull the motor and get balls deep in it. Might as well do it right if I'm going to do it. and that makes sense on the spacers now that I think about it. Sorry had a little bit of brain fart.

running a spacer will also change port timing so it could increase power as well. I think running two base gaskets wont do much for the amount of money being spent.

I've been bitten twice by not doing crank seals when I do a top end. It won't happen a third time. :nono:

Plus when the motor is out and apart you can inspect everything else at the same time. Also it's less likely that a foriegn object ( such as a washer ) can fall in and cause problems down the road. Right Ken lol

Does anyone know what kind of pistons the OEM pistons are? Wisco...

Stick to the oem pistons. They cost you a little more than the wiseco but 3500 miles of proven reliability keep things the same! Not that I've had a bad experience with wiseco I know those Suzuki engines are tough so I would keep it oem.

Just ordered the rebuild kit it was around $420 for oem parts, that included wrist pins and bearings and crank seals and the gaskets. Is there somewhere online where I could print off torque specs and other info on my 06 m7

I just pulled the cylinders off and I was wondering before I got any further if there are any special tools needed to take the motor down to replace the crank seals? Does anyone know what size of bolt I need to do the water trick to pull the clutch off, I tried using Teflon on the clutch bolt but that never worked. I took some pics of my pistons for you guys. The edges on the exhaust side of the piston were starting to get sharp and the carbon build up was getting thick. Is that normal?

Hey I'm also doing the top end in my 06 M7, Just wondering if anyone out there has torque specs? I PMed Jimbara for the service maual, but I'm trying to get it done tomorrow, so if he's out riding i might be too late. Thanks!
