Any creative solutions for securing a loose heat shield on the pipe? I know they all come loose, but this one is particularly bad. Probably warrantable, but I'm not going to bother with that mid season.
I've tried a bunch of tie wire - lasts one ride and is loose again. Thinking of stuffing a bunch of roxul under there with a screwdriver. but that will probably disintegrate like the factory stuff and end up everywhere.

Can you grab another of the stock bands and springs or a series of them and use that? Or add a spring to your tie wire.

It’s a two-piece clamshell that is crimped and riveted together. Once the insulation between the pipe and shield disintegrates, the void left allows the heat shield to flop around. If you pull the slack to one side, the heat from the pipe slowly eats away at the aluminum and makes it loose again. I need to fill the void with something that can take the heat long-term, and not shrink or fall apart. I could theoretically replace the insulation and heat shield with a new one, but it’s several hundred dollars for all the parts and it will just happen again.

I have used these lock ties on header wrap and they work good.
Are you implying to remove the factory heat shield, and wrap the pipe with a header wrap? I have thought about this, but not sure how it will affect the heat retention/shielding of the pipe. Simply wrapping the shield with ties/wire/springs won’t do anything as the aluminum shield has a whole is still together, it’s the void between the shield and the pipe that is causing looseness.

Could just get the pipe ceramic coated... probably a bit more up front but then you wouldn't ever have to worry about it again.

Might even gain an HP or 2

Ya, I'm not going to banner and it's not worth the hassle to get it to the island. I doubt the engine will last the season, they can warranty it then.

Thats a new one. I have not seen that before on a doo.
Thinking about it, thats the first time I have heard of that issue.
Interesting. Happens to all of my sleds, but this one is the worst and it happened the quickest. I see it to some extent on pretty much every doo.

I was thinking this. I'm tired of the constant mess the fibreglass makes under the hood anyway. Theres a couples places near me that do it. I'll call on Monday. If it's reasonable, this is probably what I'll doo, otherwise it can rattle away for a while longer.

Oh, I understand now. Yes they are not 100% tight, I have not seen it to the extent of the vid you posted.

Ya, maybe they'll go for it. I already have a box of stuff on the way. lol
Kinda like the idea of a coated pipe. No more of the rusty fibreglass shitstain mess everywhere.
