Didn’t cat get awarded a huge settlement from BRP a few years ago for the same thing?

Verdict was in a Canadian court, ruling applies to Canada only. American dealers are still good to sell.

Thats kinda what i figured....that and who cares since the new yahama is half cat too haha

Kanedog 2015-2019, thanks for the good times S&M!
Consumer clutch complaints, covid, economy, this could be the final twist of the knife.

For the sled division anyway. The tracker quad and side by side deal with Cabelas and bass pro will sell a lot of units.

My opinion, the people in charge for the last 20 years are incompetent. They ran the company into the ground. Including the guy who holds the reverse engine mounting and using the engine as part of the frame patents.

Magically, he quit/got fired when his patent ran out this year. Corporate games.

My assumption is Yamaha is extremely concerned with this ruling, it's only a matter of time before BRP sues them for patent infringement as well.

Maybe they'd partner with someone else? That sidewinder motor in a Axys or Gen 4 chassis would be pretty sweet.

BRP loses 46.7 million to Cat in 2016 lawsuit...
Now BRP wins 2.8 million from Cat for sleds sold since 2011

Does this mean that going forward, that now they must pay $135.00 for each chassis sold in Canada....till they make a change in their chassis??

No, it means for the time being they can't sell those sleds at all in Canada. I think they will have 2 options to move forward, change the design to something else, or license the patent from BRP.

Overall a big loss for the sledding community in Canada, I hope Cat can figure this out promptly
