Hey All,
New guy onboard and need some educated opinions. I currently ride a 2010 Yamaha Vector and am looking to go to a 2013 Yamaha MTX153.
I am a heavy guy and like the air suspension as i think it would support me better. Have conscerns with manueverability with the 153 and 2 1/4 track.
Being from Saskatchewan we can sometimes lack the snow and hard pack is a fact of life. Anyconerns with ability to manuever this. Welcome any and all recommendations---except another make. I like the Yamaha dealers in my area and would like to stick with them.

Thanks in advance.

You won't notice that 153. I think Yamaha have tipped up rails at the back so they turn easier on the hard packed. I would just put on a set of sliders for the hard packed snow.

I think he meant scratchers for the hard pack but 153 will not be a problem.

Lol want an educated opinion on a yamaha sled? Ok, Don't buy a Yamaha Sled.

Please re-read original post. Someone please delete this ^^ post.

To Original Poster: You won't notice the 153" as much as you will the heigth of the 2 1/4" track. The extra height on hard pack will be hard on sliders and cooling without scratchers, and the taller tack will slide around on you a lot more than you want. I would look into the Nytro XTX 144" in the 1.75 if you think you need the extra lug height, otherwise get the XTX with the 144" x 1.25" Ripsaw. The rails are tipped up at 6 degrees so it handles like a 121" on the hardpack.

Get some aftermarket air shocks if you want air ride, that alone is not enough to buy the 153" (just to get the shocks), setting up your suspension properly will get you farther ahead than just getting air shocks. I would look at some Raptor shocks if it was me.

The Yamaha's do have tipped rails. If I was living in Sask, I would own a Yamaha for sure. Great reliability and ride for the hard pack and the 153 will be awesome for the few times there is better snow there and ditch banging.

Most of these guys ride mountains, I spent 23 years in southern Sask and if I move back Nytro here I come

agreed with this post
if you arent going to travel west, look into the XTX w FOX FLOATS all around and the 1.75"
I had this sled and it was awesome here!

144 1.75" track, MTX riser, bars & skis, better boards, tether, block heater, E/S

it got me around here awesome, had a TON of fun on it an it kept up to all the 800's for flatland riding and ditch banging
literally push the button and go everytime i rode it, and was decent on fuel too even w the smaller tank
really really fun sled for SK IMO dude

You could save a bit of $$$ and look at a use/cary over sled. The Nytros havnt changed much since they were released. Take the extra cash and put it towards the shocks

First i would like to apologize for the un educated remarks you got from some people who obliviously dont understand the questions,

as a Yamaha dealer of 20 yrs i think i can give you some helpful advice. yes the 153 imo would be a step up... the nytro has been around a while in its chassis and some love it and some dont like the handling differences. it is quite a bit different handling, and rider position than your vector... you may want to consider an Attack, or Vector as the handling would be comparible to what you have... just with new features such as available powering steering.... dont laugh the people who did when it first came out on atvs had to eat there words its a nice option..

any yamaha will carry a healthy canadian such as your self. the bottom line is there is really not much difference in handling, one thing to consider is that a longer track is a nicer ride ... due to the fact that theres, more suspension even though the travel is the same the rider positioning is different on the sled. so the ride is imo better.... it is a good idea to stick to your local dealer as they can look after you best.
with new units, new noncurrents are usually a better buy due to larger rebates, as far as hard snow we all have it , a set of scratchers will usually help out quite a bit...

i do have a use 2011 attack 144, w/ power steering for about 10700 plus tax,,, and would consider your vector on trade... however if your looking for new deals always support your local dealer,,

they appreciate it and this will ensure you have a local dealer in the future....

good luck,,,, and feel free to ask any questions you may have...
