Unless you are always in major cities I would stay away from the "discount" carriers. They piggyback the big towers but their traffic is lower priority

I guess I'll have to disagree. My personal phone is Koodo, my work phone is Telus. They get the same service everywhere, there is no difference for me. Even when Koodo was still 4G and Telus was 5G I was getting the same download speeds on both carriers.

Now I've never used Freedom, Virgin or any of the others. But Koodo being Telus discount carrier is the same service.

Might just buy a phone and carry on, get a 14 for around 500 bucks.
