Looking for A Guide Trout Lake Area.

Hi there, there is a group of 8 of us taking a Sled Trip to the Trout Lake area in January...
We are out of the Vernon area, all competent riders, have Avy training and ride safe....

We are looking to hire a guide for the 1st and 2nd day possibly of the Trip. Know of anyone out of the Nakusp or Revy area that does
Private guiding? We have a descent budget as there is a fair number of us...

Anyone no anyone that does on the side guiding anywhere nearby, like outta Nakusp or something?

The 2 main areas are Foggy Day and Rue de Beaux (not sure on spelling). If you have GPS you don’t really need a guide. That area is a bit sleepy and the locals don’t seem to like visitors to the area. I’ve heard many vehicles get broken into at the staging area, which is just the FSR road on the east side of the lake. It’s a cool experience taking the ferry to the area but it is a bit out of the way. Good luck!!

Call the Windsor hotel in trout lake I think his name is Rene but I could be wrong on the name he owns the Windsor hotel he knows that area well we have stayed there a couple of times and just rode from town great time armpit deep snow and usually all to yourself

Stayed at the Windsor a few times 10 or more years ago, didn’t know they opened it back up heard it was shut down. I remember some local guy would come over and hustle everyone in poker at night. The only other thing to do there was some nail game you try and hit. Was some old guy and his wife running it when I was there and she did not like people in the hot tub late. Was a Interesting place.

I remember the nail game and the old hotel. Some good times in that old bar. Great area. I run into the crew all the time that still go there every year. I’ll see if I can contact him and look into.

The hustler is still there !! Haha. Hotel situation has changed. The windsor is long gone

Like I said it’s still open we where there last Xmas.... not the best western but better than a tent and fire..... untouched armpit deep snow trumps condition of the old Windsor.....

I would suggest bringing your own fuel. The last few winters the fuel supply hasn't always the greatest. Rue De Beau is more open than Foggy Day, both have some varying terrain and usually lots of untouched. Parking can be limited when the snow is piled high but they do a decent job of keeping the pullouts clear. Just use some sense and don't leave ramps out or park like an entitled douche and its good.

So where is the staging and riding areas exactly? At the forestry campground at the river mouth on the east side of the lake or closer to the townsite side of things?

I was out there quading and camping this summer. Didn’t see a whole lot of sled country except maybe a little bit north east of the lake.

If you want a groomed trail to a cabin, then Trout is not for you,,,go to Revy for the full experience. At Trout Lake you are remote and away from any help if you have problems. It's not for everyone. Super remote, challenging terrain and no assistance,,,you are on your own! The videos are on good days with good conditions and that hardly ever happens. The mountains are rounded with sucker points. If you get trapped on top of a cliff range, then you are doomed! You ever experienced that before?!

We rode trout lake a few times and enjoyed it. But I agree you need to go there with someone who knows the area as it very remote. We were there with Ray and Rene StOnge.

Riding with the giant spider monkey was always amazing........ intimidating but amazing.
