Lone rider

Hopefully this long weekend is a safe one with all the new riders that will be out this weekend. Found a lone rider this Dec just below the cabin at renshaw by himself , 14 with a rmk pro 141" track. We were in 3' of snow and up to 4' wear we were and his group was nowear to be found. This was the first time in the mountains for him and he had no idea how to get out or wear he was. My son also came down and helped and in the end my son had to drive the sled part way out because this kid was way over his head. Drove him up to the cabin and his group was their I guess I should have said something but I just left it alone. So I hope this weekend is a good one and eveyone will help each other like they normally do.

Had the same thing happen at the Meteor hillclimb last weekend. Poor kid had no idea where his group was after falling behind with a sick sled, and didn't really want to head back to their trucks by himself with a broken sled. He did the smart thing and limped it back to where all the people were. We hadn't come in the way he did but we had room on a truck for his sled, so he was headed out with us at the end of the day when his buddies finally decided to come back for him.
Stay together people! I quit riding with guys like that a long time ago!

I always ride at the back cuz no one likes to be left behind. Everyone gets back home in one piece. it is not so bad when you trade everyonce in a while, but not many want to pick up the less than experienced riders, which leaves them frustrated( the newbies). I like to ride with wild abandon too but can't be leaving the wife behind or the ride home will be very chilly indeed.

Our group always looks out for each other. Others I've rode with amaze me for the disregard for their riding partners. It only takes a few glances back once in a while to kind of keep tabs on your riding buddies.

Our group rides with radios so if somebody gets separated we can call each other to regroup, cheap way to stay safer.

When we ride, if you can't see the guy behind you once in a while then you stop. Causes a chain reaction and that way it's not 20km down the trail that you realize "johnny" isn't behind us.

I found one of those yesterday up at Blue Lake. Some lady from Sundre, Alberta....pointed it staright up hill and spun it down to China...then tried to back up. All by herself abandoned by her group. No shovel or anything on her and not a clue how to get out. Thought I popped a heart valve gettin that thing out. They were at the Sicamous dinner and auction later and the guys in her group were beaming over the mod helmet they won in the auction lol.

good to hear we need to help the beginners because we were all their once. I'm sure this lady mentioned what u did but it takes manors from the guys to say thanks or to scared to say thanks because they no they srewwed up or they don't give a ch!t.

I don't ride with guys like that and if one happens to be in our group and ditches me or my boyfriend while riding I will reem his a$$ out and never ride with him again. I don't care about being blunt or rude about it cause when it comes down to it it's my life and his life on the line.
