Anyone been out west of red deer this year? If so, how was the snow? I've been behind Phyllis lake last week and it was ok. Some fresh snow but some bare spots as well!

haven't been out so far this year, but you have found what is usually out there, area doesn't seem to get the snow, or it blows out. a call to caroline or the olds sled clubs may give better idea.

Seems Rocky area has some of the least amount of snow around until you head north towards Drayton area. Even out west towards Jackfish is lacking, unfortunately. Not sure how Caroline / Sundre area is tho...

I've been looking for a few good places where I could ride for the day. I don't always have time to go much further then nordegg so if you know of any good places within a couple hours, it would be appreciated if you could pass them on.

Rode west of Rocky today north up the Sunchild road just past the conoco plant....barely enough to ride, but no base whatsoever. Don't recommend that area until old man winter delivers more snow! Family friends were quadd'n by Jackfish Lake, so if you're a quadder that may be the current toy of choice...for January! (Geeze, just ridiculous) lol

Ill have to break in my sled on the blindman. Or stick to the side x side until we get some snow!

Went up limestone on the 22nd and there was almost 6" almost all the way up. No where near enough snow yet and it's been to windy up top no snow up there. ImageUploadedByTapatalk1359164850.887627.jpg .

Awesome! Thanks for the update. I think I'll have to go a little further to find some decent snow. Hopefully February is in our favor.

It's gonna be late Feb early march to ride anywhere out west with a base and pow!!! I'll be sure to bring a pickup box full of the pow back to Alberta next week!

Ya it's a blast up there when the wind isn't blowing. Here is a pic of the west side of limestone. 4-6" of snow at the bottom. ImageUploadedByTapatalk1359221194.555456.jpg

Been nothing but sunshine and warm weather since those pics were taken. I just drove up 881 from lac la biche to Mcmurray. That's where all the snow is hiding!!

Might have to go a little further. NE or NW alberta have lots of snow, but your looking at a 3.5hr drive. Could almost be in golden in that amount of time. I'm trying to figure out which direction to head myself next weekend.
