Not sure how many people know, but WPS makes a lithium ion battery that could be used as a replacement for your stock lead acid. I know the doo replacement one weights 1lb vs whatever the stocker weighs. As well these batteries can be mounted in any position which great for customizing and turbo guys.

Now only to find a lighter starter and there would be no excuses...

I use a 500cca ballastic. It weighs a bit over 2lbs. Nice battery but once we are cooler than about -20 its iffy if it wants to go. Good once it gdts going but the initial start in the morning is sometimes not a go. Cant remember exact weight but stock battery weighs 11-13 lbs

I use a Ballistic 16 cell - don't recall the CCA's. No problems starting my M1100T 4 stroke down to -20. It helps to give them a draw to "wake" the battery up - I have an intercooler fan that does just that. Cost of the battery was under $300 (don't remember) - picked it up with my sled new a couple years ago from T&T Powersports in Bonnyville.

I run an EarthX Lithium battery in my 2014 Pro rmk. It seems to have some better technoligy to it. Does not need a special charger, has a built in battery management system, list's products for snowmobiles to work -30c, excellent warranty. It is very light.

I have the same battery. But it did not start at -28...lol. Couple of primer pulls with the pull start, THEN she fired. Still happy with the battery. :)

Not bashing the batteries, I'm sure they're great. If you're running a Lithium battery make sure it isn't damaged (inspect if you smack a tree) or leaking in any way. We used to use lithium batteries in some of our oilfield down hole equipment. If they leak and water contacts them... KABOOOM!!! It didn't happen very often, but when it did... dirty ugly.

both actually. Since the 1200 was still stock compression I expected the batterty to turn the etec over easier but similar performance. What oneoldfart says is pretty good advice. I have a handwarmer element stuck to the back side of the battery tray to wake up the battery. Havent had a chance to try it yet as sled sleeps in a warm place at night but I've heard this from a few people.
