Light bar wiring help,

Hey guys we’ll call this a dumb question but it there anyway to wire 2 smaller led lights or a 20inch light bar on my sled trailer for loading and unloading and goose hunting into my 7way plugin my truck!? Or do I need a battery!? Or any other ways thanks

So you're looking to mount on the back of your trailer? Should not have to touch the 7-way plug. It would be the same way some guys wire loading lights on sled decks from their 3rd brake light on the top of the truck. You could tap into a brake light on your trailer and add a switch in and mount somewhere. You'd just have to have your 'night-time' lights turned on from your truck. I did something similar for LED lights on the underside of my sled deck. Hope that makes sense..

Your plug should have 12 volts power in it. The one that charges the rv battery and brake battery. tie into that.

Do you have lights inside the trailer? If so, can you wire it to that switch?
If not, exactly what arff said.

No it’s an open place trailer I was gonna mount a light on my slush guard as it’s heavy duty and i would just want to plug the light in while I’m setting up for goose hunting or unloading sleds or whatever want to plug it in my 7way plug but don’t know how

Use the 12 volt wire from the 7 pin plug. Add a switch near the trailer hitch. Really easy to do

I would be extremely careful with just plugging in all the LED bars to the 12V in the plug. Depending on the length of cable/size of your LED bar you may be asking for a fire. You gotta remember those cables to the plug are typically only 14 gauge, (12 gauge at best) which really only leads you to 10-15ish amps of current.

Be sure to check the wattage on your lights before you do this. This is why lots of bigger trailer light setups use an additional battery for big light setups. I have done many write-ups on this forum about how to do it.

Not saying it can't be done, but just do your research. You may just want to use small lights vs your large 20".
