Equality, giving exceptions to laws for certain groups of people or religions does not make society equal. The rules need to apply to everyone.

As for the guy wearing a turban instead of a helmet on an atv that hurts himself, then gets a brain injury and is a vegetable for the rest of his life. Who pays for his long-term health care? Not him, he can't, so the taxpayer is stuck with the bill.

Sikh's are required to wear a helmet on a motorcycle in Alberta, how is an atv different?

Okay, that clears it up and I agree. We should all have the same rules.

Originally I had thought you were saying someone wearing a turban in place of a helmet is just as bad as someone (in a public safety sense) with no face buying rifles.

I think what he is saying is that everyone should have to play by the same rules regardless of race or religion.

This is Canada and we should all fly one flag and one set of rules, problem there is our government devotes it's time to special minority groups rather then the masses that are paying the bill. I for one don't give a crap what color you are or who you pray to but don't try and change my way of life because you have feelings. You want to come here for a better way of life that's awesome but don't try and change my country into the one you left.

Well said man!

No I believe that all government issued ID should come with a picture. For instance I have family members that are Mennonite that absolutely do not believe in having pictures taken of themselves, walk into their homes and you won't find a single photograph, yet all their drivers licenses, PAL cards, Passports, etc have a picture of them. Because any logical person understands that a photograph is an extremely effective tool for personal identification.

On that same note it was the Hutterites in southern Alberta that didn't want their picture on their driver's license, yet the supreme court ruled in 2009 that their drivers license must have a picture.

"The Supreme Court of Canada ruled 4-3 Friday that a Hutterite community in Alberta must abide by provincial rules that make a digital photo mandatory for all new driver's licences as a way to prevent identity theft.
The case involved the Hutterian Brethren of Wilson Colony, located east of Lethbridge, Alta. The group had argued a 2003 regulation enacted by the province requiring photographs on the licences breached their charter right to freedom of religion."
