Synthetic or non?

Some people say non cause it sticks to the internals better.

I'm a big believer in mineral oil for break-ins as it allows the rings to seat properly whereas the synthetic is too slippery. All my two strokes get synthetic thereafter. I'd run synthetic in my truck if it didn't like to burn through it. It really depends though some motors don't like synthetic, and some will become problems without it. In sleds we have exhaust valves to worry about as well and most mineral oils don't burn off clean enough and leave ash residue that causes the valves to stick, hence why synthetic is a requirement in most new machines.

If you have a sled with exhaust valves, use synthetic. Synthetic burns cleaner than mineral and will gum your valves up less.If you dont have valves, use whatever you want.Synthetic oil has advantages in colder temps because it flows more easily than mineral oil and because of it's molecular composition, its more slippery than mineral oil.  Mineral oil will cling / stay put during storage longer on components than synthetic oil. I run synthetic in my sleds even during break in with no issues and fog the engine for summer storage. There are good mineral oils and bad same with synthetic. Do some research and pick a good reliable oil that fits your engine type and use or application.

Rk tek doesn't recommend synthetic?
Something new to me. I talked to bikeman performance during sled show - they say use Redline for PRO chassis.
Talked to Wossner guys, they say don't use branded synthetic oil like Gold Ves, they say use mineral and do VES cleaning.

I personally run Dominator by AMSOIL for many reasons besides being the best oil out their.

A great person to talk to on Oil is Bart (Modman) on the forums here. Hope he chimes in, he is very knowledgeable on this subject.
