yup... had PRK done about 8 years ago... loved the clearer vision, but I do find that I have a harder time seeing depth in white out conditions then my riding buddies. I don't know if that has anything to do with it but I'm just sayin'.... They are also very light sensitive, and I also have grief with "dry eyes" also, even after they put plugs in the drain pipes... lol.... But for the most part it was a great improvement and I have no regrets. :)

Do it, had lasik 3yrs ago and don't regret it

As mentioned whites are a little harder to see but it's not bad, don't have dry eyes myself.

Had mine done a few years back. I say plan yourself some time off after you have the procedure done, I had to keep my eyes out of the light for awhile and had to take alot of eyedrops. After all that I couldn't have been more happier with the results, well worth it.

Going on about 2 years my self. Best thing ever, slight dry eyes once in a while and only real difference is a little more sensitive to headlights and street lights at night.
I work outside all day every day and the sun doesn't bother me any more then before. Good luck, I had surgery on a Thursday and back to work on the Monday( I'm always wearing safety glasses anyway so i wasn't worried).

Had mine done more than 10 years ago and the best thing ever. I would recommend you do some research into different clinics. I did not get a good feeling from LASIK. Felt they were too much of a volume place - kinda like taking your car to Maaco for paint . I checked out a few different places and ultimately settled on an eye specialist I found by referral by a friend. 2 days and I was up and going. Still have better than 20/20 vision today - unless you ask my wife cause she thinks I can't see anything I'm looking for lol. If you are interested PM me and I can find the details of the specialist.

I did some research and talked with 4 different coworkers that had theirs done at Lasik and they did say that it did feel like a volume place but all said it was worth it. I also met the owner and surgeon a few weeks ago on a flight from Fort Mac to Calgary. I am really pumped about getting it done. I have yet to hear a bad thing about it.

I got my eyes done 7 years ago and haven't had any issues. Still see 20/20 and I've never experienced dry eyes past 4 days post surgery. I got the procedure done a Lasik downtown edmonton.

My girlfriends brother got his done last year at King Lasik and wore shades for 2 weeks and complained about discomfort. His vision is fine now but his recovery was 20x longer than it was for me.

I was thinking of having it done but I am 55 years old and was told by someone that at my age it probably wouldn't last long as your eyes get weaker as you get older.
Anyone heard of being too old to have it done?

I think the 'someone' you were talking to didn't know much about eyesight.
I had it done @46 yrs. old (8 years ago). I needed-5 (with astigmatism) correction in my glasses. I wore toric contacts during all waking hours and vision was excellent, but I was starting to need reading glasses.
I said screw it -- why wear contacts AND readers, so I got the surgery.
The surgeon was very clear -- the Lasik would only correct my distance vision and it would probably accelerate my need for readers.
I had the Lasik and he was exactly right. My distance vision is excellent and I need a +1.5 reader.

The results after the surgery were not excellent. I was left a little bit near sighted..... just about the point of still needing distance glasses.
The surgeon took me back for a touch-up about 6 weeks later and nailed it. :)

The procedure for me was effortless. I slept about 4 hrs. after getting zapped each time, and I was back to 100%. No halos at night, no dry eyes, no pain.
The only thing that sucked about the entire thing was I needed to go without contacts (only glasses) for 1 MONTH before the first go round.

Overall I HIGHLY recommend getting this done, and wish I did it 20 years earlier.

I am almost 55 years young and when I talked to the surgeon(the company owner) he figures I can get it done but I won't know for sure until all the test are done, hopefully it's a GO

the owner/ surgeon says it ranges from about $400.00 per eye up to 1500 per eye. my work only pays $300.00 per every 2 years for glasses but they sometimes can cost a lot more and that comes from my pocket. I am so sick of wearing glasses
what r average prices ppl are paying? Its been on my to do list aswell. Gettn sick of contacts

Is it true that they can't really improve astigmatism 20/25 vision?

the surgeon says 95 % percent of the people that want it done can get it done. not sure what makes the 5% not be able to.
