On a serious note, how does the end product stand up? Can you add color? Will a sheet of mild steel or stainless steel take to the engraving? Thanks, fs

Not sure about the unit he is using but the CNC lasers I work on will engrave as well. Just have to turn them WAY down. The machines I work on will cut through 1" thick steel (takes a 4 kilowatt laser for 1" or a kilowatt per 1/4 inch of steel).
The engraving "etches" the material. Cant see how you would get color added unless you were to paint the upper surface and etch out to the lower surface. As far as durability you would need to remove material (scratch) material away for it to be wrecked.
Stainless is BEAUTIFUL when etched. All depends on the power of his etcher if it can be done. Should be able to.

the material we use is a tiny bit thicker then most and this makes it stronger and makes it last longer. lamacoids colours come in twos for example it could be black writing with a white background. we have many colour combos in stock. also for stainless steel we spray the steel with a chemical to make the etching come out black.

this is a 4x4 flammable tag as you can see its white writing with a red background.
