No NG in Sicamous. Only practical way to heat is geothermal heat pump systems . Either ground source or air source systems.

Does it take too much electricity to run?
For me yes. System is running 3 heat pumps, plus the fan on the furnace side. Add the electric water heater in and normal light appliance usage and it's quite a bit. I try and run the pellet stove as much as possible

You must be in a sizeable home or heating out buildings to have three heat pumps? I have one heat pump (6 ton) heating a 3400 sq ft envelope here in Alberta in a much colder climate..

My grandparents have a geo thermal system, they’ve had it since ‘97(ish) and seem to like it. That’s why I asked. I’ve always considered one.

House is little on large side. No out buildings. Part of the problem is it was designed wrong from the start by original builder. Trying to fix it get it run properly and cheaply has left a bad taste in my mouth for these systems. I'm running 4 trenches 300 feet long in a field.

Dont mean to derail op's thread, and you likely know all the following, but it sounds like your field might be to small for system. Rule of thumb in your area, I believe, is you need 150' vertical borehole or 300' of trench per ton of heat. Trench has to be minimum 4' below natural frost line. Also when installing horizontal field the soil type is very important, a heavy clay is best, dry sandy soil not so good. Your field return temps should be around 32-38 F, (in heating) the lower your return temp, the higher the amp draw. System should be designed to 32F return on coldest day of the year. If return temps are below 32F the amp draw is considerably higher on your system.
Sorry for the bad taste, and for the derail... better get back to OP's thread.

Yeah but who wants to call you just to find out your price is out to lunch. No offense. I can go on remax ext and check out lots all day that have prices listed.

Whether you post your price for a widget or a piece of real estate on this site you will get some self professed know it all on widgets or real estate telling you you are way to high. Daron should get serious inquiries with this process instead of the idiots ruining his thread. Just something I have noticed over the years on this site.
