Where are you pricing out boats?

So many manufacturers now....

Started out at outlaw , but there 30 to 35g more then there competition.

Now I’m dealing with redline out of Grand Prairie, they can get wicked deals on bratts. I have a price now on a 19ft Timberwolf that is very reasonable.

And I’m also waiting on an price back from explorer on a 186 with 8 stringer bottom and full Teflon.

I priced a similar Timberwolf with the 5.3 in June at $110k. Ironically the same boat was at the cancelled sportsmen show a few months earlier for $95k.

IIRC Windsor Motorsports in town was asking $105k for the Firefish Convicts, and that was with an ecoboost.

The price gouging on boats here in town was ridiculous this year. I had build sheets from both Firefish and Brattjet for 2019, all boats went up close to $20k for 2020, at least at the dealers they did.

Go look at the explorer and Bratt, fire fish first. The explorer looks like it was made in some guys garage. The windshield is pop riveted on. It will be cheaper but it’s no where close to the same class of boat.

Haha ya thanks man. I’ve allready chatted to Steve about that boat. It’s a good price. I’ll just be a bit short on space in that one. But definitely a sick little boat.

Go look at the explorer and Bratt, fire fish first. The explorer looks like it was made in some guys garage. The windshield is pop riveted on. It will be cheaper but it’s no where close to the same class of boat.

All builders are getting that way a little. There's no money in one off custom boats, particularly with custom hulls and custom dimensions. Seats, colors, and options are things most are willing to do, but why would a builder slow down an order of 20 production boats for a truly custom one? Particularly when most of these shops are running at full output anyway.

Dave and I didn’t get a long lol. When I priced out a boat he would not build one like I wanted. And he wanted to charge extra for a swim deck. Then I asked about a travel cover and he wouldn’t put a travel cover on because they’re not needed he said.

I took an old race boat there for a quick weld repair... after calling everything on the boat junk... he still didn't repair it. He probably hasn't even been 60MPH lol

No not custom as in that way. He doesn’t like to do anything extra. He fights you on needing a swim deck or seats in the back of the boat. Fights you on uhmw and stringers. He said you don’t need that stuff just don’t hit rocks

Yeah that's ridiculous. I get hull shape and size changes because there is a fair bit of work. But added accessories should be nothing be extra cash in the eyes of the builder.

I've never had to deal with the guy, but having a look at their boats online is enough to realize I don't want one.

Bratt built me a really nice one off, they won’t care. I had to pay $400 for the cad design but that was it over regular costs, I think they enjoy one off builds gives them something new to try.
