Anybody interested in doing a few day trip on the Kinbasket. We are going to launch from Mica this year. No dates confirmed, but likely mid to late July or early August.

Took the tiny boat last year and likely taking the big boat this year.

Feel safer hooking up with S&M folks.

Anything planned for a 2022 Kinbasket trip? I believe Chrisco and others usually run it yearly. I believe they start up by Valemount and run south. We did run it one year and launched at Kinbasket campgrounds and headed north up the lake and south on the Columbia river. Camped by the Donald bridge Campers Haven campgrounds. Can also launch into the Columbia river there.

I assume you cannot/should not run a prop boat? I have a vdrive that would eat that up.

I just went and had a look at the lake( reservoir) last Friday. The water is very low right now. I dont think the water will be up to the launch ramp at the marina for at least another 3 weeks or so.

Water levels should be rising now. I know here in Red Deer they opened the dam to compensate for all the rain were have received in the last few days.

Will be in the lower RD this aft, looks like little red has plenty of water as well to make what seems a run every few years. Blind man and medicine might be an option too before it drops.

This was what the lower Kinbasket looked like on June 18 when we were there. First pic is part of the old Big Bend Highway (long straight line in the middle of the photo) and the old bridge abutments were still visible. Pic 2 is what my kids call "the Lorax forest" a few kms north of the Resort, if anyone knows the Lorax you'll understand.
