I am wondering, now that Biden is going to cancel it how that is going to affect my friends from the north? I believe it is going to harm us greatly when it comes to energy independence and we will soon be going back to $4+ per gallon of gasoline and will kill our economy.

I can tell you as an Albertan its not going well here. Our premier invested over a billion dollars into it and now here we sit because of a change in govt. From what I understand Alberta and Saskatchewan are going to mount a legal challenge to this. Our witless leader Turdeau is supposedly for Keystone but its hard to trust someone who talks out the corner of his mouth.

I've heard legal opinion that Biden really does not have the ability to stop the project. The cross border portion is already built and that is the part requiring presidential approval after that it is up to the individual states.

I hope your right Bogger, do you know which state it is entering first?

I had heard Minnesota at one point but it looks like Montana - South Dakota - Nebraska - Kansas
I would think that those states would be ok with the pipeline coming through but these are crazy times we are living in.

It's not those states disputing it - That's the California's, Washington's and New York's.

The Keystone Pipeline already exists from Alberta - Manitoba - ND - SD - Nebraska - Missouri, Illinois, Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas.... XL is just a shortcut to greatly increase capacity so the tree huggers are screaming "NO" not realizing that they indirectly use this product for everything they do....

Right, they are clueless as to how much petroleum products are used to build and run their electric cars. :homer:

world still not using solar panels on the cars, trucks and tractors.. when they are in need of our products they will come a knocking, then charge them double and don’t look back.. never got far last 4 years either

What's really astonishing is how someone can enter into an agreement / contract and have numerous parties spend billions of dollars to have 1 person stop the contract without huge financial ramifications.

This is essentially what happened to Energy East. If Keystone gets cancelled which it probably will, I would like the feds to re route it east. TC probably wouldn't buy in but who knows.

IMO Keystone XL is cancelled. It'll be in the courts for years, but it's done.

My only question is if TMX will move a drop of oil, if you follow the same line of thought as the $170/tonne carbon tax then there is no sense in selling oil on the global market. Better yet I can see Trudeau enacting the carbon tax on every barrel of oil sold from TMX to the world, effectively pricing us out of the market.

I would be over the moon happy to be wrong about the above 2 statements though.

You are correct there was a tv blurb awhile back on this on what Biden can do about this project.

This article from Fox Business News says he's going to cancel it, among a bunch of other things he's going to stop. I guess all we can hope for is that the GOP wins back the house in 2022 and maybe they will draw up impeachment paperwork against for his actions in Ukraine and China. And speaking of the GOP, that party needs new leadership, that party is no longer sustainable for those of us who want our Constitution followed to the letter. We need more reps like Matt Gaets and Jim Jordan, people with enough spine to take on the Democrats and put them back in their place.

Yes I agree. Fox reported a couple days ago that there is evidence that one of Mitch McConnells companies has shady business dealings with the Chinese govt as well as Biden. See fred, Fox reports both ways. Has anyone seen any Hunter Biden laptop coverage on the left leaning media outlets yet? Lmao. No better than our own CBC.

I apologize for my lack of knowledge on the subject in advance but
I recall trump signing a executive order approving the pipe line what were the road blocks for it not getting done? Was there substantial construction in that 4 year period? Can Biden'smind be changed?
