It's sold, went to a S&M member about 5 minutes after I posted it.
I'm shocked as well. To me this is a safety issue. Should be a safety bulletin on this from Transport Canada and vehicles parked until Cat comes up with a solution. There must be a design issue. Cat hasn't been building exploding clutches forever. Its just the past couple years?I can’t believe theirs no recall on these, sooner or late someone will lose a few toes or half a face

I agree. In 2017 when SkiDoo's TRA was a mess that was the first year Team built clutches for BRP because Rotax was overloaded with engine builds with all their lines. Unfortunately as the parent company you catch hell for the suppliers screw ups.The clutches are built by Team, cat just buys them. Cat should be all over Team for a replacement
Simple stuff for you. Why can't TEAM figure it out is the question? On my Team clutch with the bearing I found that the clutch couldn't fully close, the cover would contact the spider jam nut. I found this disturbing. The clutch couldn't fully shift out. That would cause distortion and binding at peak RPM full shift. I purchased the 911 cover and this issue is now gone, the cover has proper clearance so it no longer contacts the spider jam nut. So now at full shift the sheave face touch like they should, unobstructed.
and why doesn't Cat/Textron make them figure it out? Give us a reliable clutch or we will find someone else.Simple stuff for you. Why can't TEAM figure it out is the question?
Ya, pretty sure I'm not gonna simply park my sled because a few clutches blow up. I'll take the risk.I'm shocked as well. To me this is a safety issue. When a safety bulletin is generated a registered letter is sent to the owner telling him to park his ride till the unit is fixed. If you ride it after that then you absolve yourself of any injury legally and can't sue the manufacturer. At least thats what happened with the 2008 XP's and the broken driveshafts fiasco.Ya, pretty sure I'm not gonna simply park my sled because a few clutches blow up. I'll take the risk.
First post on S&M. Found this thread after sending half my primary back to China and the other half to the Nasa Space Station. Seems to be the most comprehensive list of clutch destruction, thought I'd add mine to the list. 19 M8000, just picked it up as a leftover in November 2020. About 1100km when it popped last week. Dealer is saying clutches are backordered until the end of the month. Thankful my foot is still intact as the clutch did mash up the metal foot well protector.
Does anyone have any updates if Cat/Team is actively doing anything to fix this issue? As far as I know the plan is to install another grenade on warranty, whenever that happens.
