The Y2Y movement might have been the first group to knock on Nothead's door when the NDP got voted in in Alberta. The movement with big USA bucks, took a brand, Protect our Headwaters, to the media and the common people bought it. The eastern slope in south western Alberta will never be the same. In the next breath, the NDP donated millions to the Nature Conservancy of Canada to form a Wildlife Corridor along highway #3 in the Crowsnest Pass.

So far, in this corner of the province, the Nature Conservancy of Canada owns/controls some fairly large pieces of property that will very easily be made into Parks. There is a piece beside the Inn on the Border, another piece between the small town of Hosmer and Sparwood, the area around Mt Broadmore southeast of Fernie, and a smaller piece along the Elk River between Sparwood and Elkford.

With an NDP government in power in BC, I can see the process continuing. Back-country users can't become complacent and have to get involved. The youngsters in school are being brainwashed with programs (about conservation and not to mention the diversity/inclusion crap) shoved down their throats in a manner that they are totally protective of the back-country from the use of motorized transportation. Even, by the looks of it, the use of bicycles in the Joss area will not be tolerated.

This is real and progressing a lot faster than people can imagine. Deals are made in secret and no one knows until the announcement is made. I would like to know where the big manufactures are in relation to all of this. Can't they see the writing on the wall?

Great comments. If the NDP in BC are similar to Alberta you won't even know what is happening until its too late. Once the cat is out of the bag they may put up some public "opinion poll" to pretend they are listening to all sides, but rest assured the ship has already sailed by that point.

There are a couple things at play. In the online petition against the expansion and seclusion of land against Mike Weigle in blue river, there was a response from government. They have set aside another 27 million dollars for the saving and terrain management of the caribou. A mountain bike tour company and the town of revelstoke were trying to open up bike tours on Joss. They were denied by the same thing as we are seeing here. There is a real hard on for "saving" the caribou.

Man this is just maddening whats the best way to help? Some of our favourite riding has been every mountain you just spoke of in recent years the last haven to get away from masses around Revy. Monashee is cat skiing do they get a pass for this if winter closures happen? The Canadian way regulate it till it dies and no one can enjoy it.

I also asked rorry from shuswap extreme ( kitty dealer in s. A), which was the only dealer to show up too

He said textron is aware, they have some big lawyers, and being a big company with lots of different stuff, pretty diverse I guess

How they will do dunno, we figure it's probably 15-20% Canada market share in alberta and b. C, is it enough for them to help, guess we will see

But where are Polaris, brp, cf moto, kawi, honda, Suzuki.
Rob Alford was there, maybe doo will contribute some money to this.

But I agree, manufactures and dealerships and riders need to find a lobby group to speak on behalf of our interests.

Otherwise the Y2Y is gonna crush us.
They are the Hitler of green groups.

In my mind, the big numbers are in the east and the OEM's don't really give a rat's ass. It is just like the federal government..................do they really care about the west?

If anyone thinks the OEM's are going to do something before the chit hits the fan, they are looking through rose coloured glasses. This is all on us, the BCSF, the local clubs, and the communities that are affected.

They should, you buy a new sled every year.

How often do trail riders?

And what's to say these dickheads aren't going to expand their targets to eastern lands?

I agree they should and they should be front and centre with expertise in the form of a hired spokesperson.

The dick heads just keep pushing. More and more American money to support them and lead the cause. A least we hear rumblings from Jason Kenney regarding the dislike of the American money and drive the Y2Y, Sierra Club, Wildlife Fund, multi foundations, etc., etc, continue to do to advance their agenda in the back-country.

I agree 100% Fernie.

It seems now a days that foreign interest groups are able to dictate the Canadian way of life.

Getting sick of this.

They have the financial backing that goes deep. It’s big. The sad part of the whole thing is that these people or groups don’t know **** about a caribou or a grizzy. They’re demented and being used as pawns. There nothing short of criminals. Environmentalists from all over the world. That’s how they should be treated. Criminals.

Had this texted to me today. Looks like Joss is only open from December 1- March 1 this year. Funny how Monashee Powder Cats can operate on their snow cats in the closure area. :realmad:

I was able to verify this online too....

Item 115 In Schedule 1- http://www.bclaws.ca/civix/document/id/complete/statreg/196_99#Schedule1

You can find the map of the closure on page 5 of this file.....

My worry is that after they get elected, that the UCP will not see any benefit to returning newly created NDP park lands for normal use
